Roadblocks

All the people showing their disgust over roadblocks are the first to whine and complain when they are involved in an accident with a drunk or an unroadworthy vehicle.

Roadblocks are a good thing, believe it or not.

I don't whine about roadblocks.

But I do whine about the idiotic way in which these roadblocks are executed.

If done professionally, a road block should have minimal impact on traffic.

This said: Resently I ended in a pretoria metro roadblock. Seems as if they blocked the traffic for a few minutes, did searches for a few cars, and then emptied the roadblock blockage and started again. The pain was about 5 minutes.

My thoughts exactly. The very reason I started this thread. Standing an hour to travel 2.1km's just to be waved on when you eventually get to the front.

Come to think of it, maybe it was better they didn't pull me over, might have been locked up again...:p

Yes, being late for work sucks and it's a moerse inconvience but come on! Crime is outta control and anything that helps things should be welcome.
Don't care. It is definitely totally inappropriate to put a roadblock on a primary motorway during peak times.

Oh for the bright sparks in Gov't may they keep blundering along as usual, i see light at the end of the tunnel, the ANC is in power again.

SMG Cape Town (the new BMW dealership in Canal Walk) has cameras that record your number plate as you drive into the premices. Since all BMW's are on the national system, the computer spits out your name and the moment you stop at the door, a 'portier' welcomes you on your name as exit your car. How cool is that. These guys are set on service.

But to get back to the roadblock. A simple camera setup say, 2km before the actual roadblock could record the plates of the cars that passed and then only the dodgy ones can be pulled at the roadblock.

"WTF? I am only dropping off my douce bag brother in laws car for him after driving the life out of his engine, and now you call me by his name? *Gut punch*" :p

They have had that for a long time already.

The camera beeps if the car scanned has any outstanding warrents of arrest.
