Robbers ripped out wall plug

Is that why and ISDN line gives you such a nasty shock when stripping it with your teeth?

Were you giving it the tongue-test? ISDN has a higher current capacity than a telephone line, as the router is not an inductance device.

btw: Lots of dodgy advice in these posts. Why does the OP not just call Telkom and get someone who knows what he is doing? If you have some electronic experience, this job is a doddle.

Those two should be connected to the center pins on the socket as discussed earlier. You had the DSL light green, which means it had signal and has negotiated the ADSL link, so just check the parameters in the modem before going on. Username and password may be incorrect.

I got the DSL light going with several combinations, when I get home after work today I will try with the Blue and Orange wire.
I had also double checked the username/password on the modem, it seems to be correct.

Not sure which center pins you mean. There are 4 connections on the jack. None actually center.
But will try the "random" option and let you know.
Also logged a call with Telkom on Sunday, till 5pm my call had not been dispatched to any technician.

He means the two contacts that connect to the center two pins of the RJ11 connector:

Hi All,

Thanks for all the help. I managed to sort it out.

In the telkom box that is on my premises the blue and orange cables were connected (out of the blue, green, brown and orange)
Thanks to the help of the people on this forum, I connected the blue and orange cable, to the yellow and green on my phone jack(wall plug bought at Mica for R17)

Re-configured my modem and voila.

Speeds are slow though, I am on a Afrihost 4mb uncapped line.
Getting local speeds of 1.15 down and 0.41 up. But I guess this is for a different thread ;-)

Thanks again forum members.

Cool, glad to be of assistance. Does the modem report a low sync speed in the web interface?
