Hey Gents / Ladies, Anybody have this "game"? Its apparently a McCoy guitar and teaches you how to play. Sort of a bucket list requirement, but don't have time to travel to guitar lessons. Any thoughts on it, anyone have it? Thanks

I would have had it by now if they offered a full bundle with the PS4 version.

I have an acoustic, but not sure it would work as well.

Have it on PC. If you are dedicated you can learn to play a few songs. You need to be dedicated though and play everyday.

Thanks for the comments. I think it is a go then. Am super keen to learn guitar, but don't have travel time. Have time around 5 to 7 in the mornings.

Works quite well if you have some knowledge of a guitar. Can't remember if it's the 2014 or 2013 edition, but one of them assumes you know how to hold a guitar and correct finger placements.

The mini games are quite cool and will definitely improve the skills of any novice. Like with all musical instruments, you gotta practice regularly though.

Where ever you decide to buy a bundle, make sure that the guitar is fully in tact. I bought the bundle from takealot only to realise that the body was damaged. They replaced it quickly, but the replacement had a damaged pickup. Third time lucky, no damage.

I got it on my Xbox One.

You just need the cable (approx R300) and a real electric guitar (i got one of those cheapies you get at Cash Crusaders). If you got the cable+guitar then it will work with any version of the software (PC/Console etc).

Either way, Rocksmith is serious business, you will definitely get -real- training from this. It works pretty great and has a whole range of lessons/tutorials/training combined with playing full songs. Admittedly i do think a total newbie will take awhile before they can remotely play any of the songs in any serious capacity , you will most likely be stuck in the training modes (i.e. learning to pick, learning to strum, learning chords and the presses etc) for awhile.

I could already play relatively "ok" guitar (i.e. can strum most of the chords) , but i didn't play regularly at all . So when i got this game , my first problem was my fingers going numb and sore from the strings (softy fingers). So if you don't intend to keep this up and practice regularly, this "game" is going to be gathering dust.

GuitarHero/Rockstar in contrast comes with the plastic toy guitar without strings, so one can pick that up any time , even if you stopped playing for a month...but trust me you can't do this with Rocksmith.

On a total side note, you get some interesting Ipad/Iphone apps that does exactly the same thing as Rocksmith, except it uses the device mic to "listen" to your notes. I've done this with my piano, so the ipad app have this auto-scrolling music notes and even figure out whether you played the notes or not etc etc (and give you scores , turning it into game modes) . For guitar you get a few games to play with....also the fact that you get an app to tune your guitar says it all....

Thanks chaps! I have Guitar hero and so on. This is the real thing I want to do. I saw a guitar bundle with how to dvd's but somehow I think this will be better to learn from. And I intend to do this 100%. No dust for this thing.

Well you can't go wrong with Rocksmith , since you can use any real guitar with it. You can still consider just buying a guitar from an actual music store (they actually tend to sell the rocksmith cable too) and consider just buying the Rocksmith game on its own. You will probably have to visit your nearest music store anyway, maybe to get some guitar picks and/or a capo ;-)

I've had it on ps3 and now on PC, its fantastic, the only game I play actually :)
