Hi Guys,

First time posting here, and I thought I'd relate a "problem" I'm having with my rogue.

My main was a hunter that I dropped at about 3600GS and then rolled a rogue.

Loved levelling her and quickly got her up to about 4800GS now and my single target DPS is awesome, I'm mutilate spec I can do about 5.5k DPS on Ony25 and recently topped 6k on Toravon in VOA10, which I think isnt bad for my GS.

Problem is my DPS in HC's suck the big one, constantly around 2k - 2.5k even less in places like HoL where some of the mobs are immune to poisons.

Now I understand the problem, on smaller mobs the fight are too short, its hard to build 3-5 cp for envenom and apply a bleed for HfB before the poor mobs die, I just dont see a way around it. I would expect that all rogues have the same "problem", but people constantly moan about my DPS in HC's compared to my GS, i've also never had the luck to roll with another rogue anything outside a raid.

What do you guys think? I have dual spec, have a standard Combat build as secondary, but I dont like it much and havent used, also not a fan of a rogue using swords = warrior, but if thats the way I must go then I will. I'm happy the 3.3.3 patchnotes show alot of buffs for rogues with daggers.

Sorry for the longwinded post, but thats how I roll...

Nothing you can do about it.

Seriously, whenever I do heroics, i just fan of knives my way through to the boss.
Bosses i kill with a normal rotation, and then back to fan.

Dont try and fix it. Best you can do, honestly, is dualspec.
You can then switch to Combat for 5mans.
Even then though, you wont see a WHOLE lot of difference.

Haven't touched my rogue since TBC, I was under the impression Rogues are the same as Shadow priests when it comes to dps - requires more than 20sec to start pushing dps numbers

Thanks Wheunis,

Thats basically what I thought, I also didnt find much literature around it on the net. With the Random HC thing, I just see more and more *********s moaning about my DPS, never had anything to compare it to, now at least I know the ones that moan havent rolled a rogue and dont have a clue. I'll work on my combat spec and maybe pickup a pair of nice swords the next time some drop on no-one needs and see how that goes.

Yip, thats it in a nutshell.

Don't need combat spec. I used to have it, then moved over to Mutilate on both my pri and sec specs because of PvP. The PvE spec is a bit different and yours sound right.

Generally I just TotT and go mad on Fan of Knives and on the boss use your normal rotation. Works just fine and even top dps on trash sometimes when using Fan of Knives. Still remember to stealth up so that you can get the faster energy regen, as well as maybe sneak in a bleed out of stealth so you can HfB before starting Fan of Knive spam.

There is another sore point, most randoms guys go nuts as soon as I start stealthing...There's alot of hate towards rogues, healers have a rough time with me too, I've probably died everytime Anub casts Pound (Not the healers fault, leather + melee + lag = big repair bills and pissed off healers)

Don't even bother with the normal rotation unless its on a boss , i re stealth once before every trash pull for the overkill buff and come directly out of stealth without using an opener.

Basically just try to keep s&d up , don't even bother with hfb if there is no one else supplying a passive bleed.

Any class/spec that has a slow ramp up time is going to have low dps in heroics. I've noticed mine suffering badly at times because the arcane mage is simply plowing the same mob i am before i can get my second disease on let alone throw pestilence.

Besides, 2k dps is more than good enough to complete any heroic, if people are whining about it, tough break, by the time they can boot you the run will be over.

I push out 7k on VoA 10 ... in HC's I battle to do 3k+ on mobs. I generally just faff about until the boss fight, where I pull rank.
