Hi, I have been using hulu and netflix on my ps3 via unotelly fo months now without any problems. I then got a roku 3 last night, created an acc, set it up with a us address then started using it. Issue is I can't find both hulu and Netflix when adding channels. How is it supposed to be setup please help.

I had the same issue at first. I solved it by resetting the device and then creating a new Roku account using a US VPN (I used the trial one UnoTelly provides). Then I set up the Roku again.

MUST also create your Roku account as USA. Not ZA.

EDIT: Once you have created your Roku account, you must select Netflix and Hulu as part of the setup. They will be auto downloaded to your Roku.

Thanks guys, I was using my ipad to create the accounts, turns out my rooter was giving my devices 10.0.0.5 + ip.

One thing that I haven't got right is getting enca, MTV and BBC channels working. Any idea ?

Also: is it possible to move between netflix countries with roku. I used to do it with unotelly on my ps.

FYI: roku is the Ish, way faster than the ps. The extra channels, the ease of use .... Still getting more channels

You still change via Unotelly. Works well.

Ye - Roku is the kingpin. I got 2 x Roku 2 XS 's and 2 x Roku 3's. Tried the others. No win.

eNCA is available in the Livestation channel which is not working currently. It may or may not reappear. Both MTV and eNCA are available on www.giniko.com but no longer on Roku due to complaints from DishWorld. BBC World should be available in the NowhereTV channel. There is also a Sky News channel - I used to be able to find a 24/7 live feed as an option under Spotlight but I can no longer find it. Take a look yourself to see if it is still available. Giniko also had a Sky News feed which has been removed. Some of the best options currently are Vevo and Pandora (music), Smithsonian (documentaries), USTVNow (ABC, CBS, NBC etc., 45 day free trial) www.ustvnow.com, CNN, PBS etc.

I can no longer find the 24/7 live channel under Spotlight - only find three icons ...

Hi guys,

Bit of a thread Necro - but how do I see the stream quality from within Netflix on my Roku3.

The reason I'm asking is that the quality seems better than my Apple TV.

Any input, tips, tweaks, tricks to display the bit rate or optimise my Roku3 further?

Thanks,

Thanks,

You can use the Netflix test stream to see what kind of bandwidth and quality your line is capable of. Search for Example Short in the app and select the first one.

I don't think that the recent Roku's support this feature. Look for the Example Short 23.976 clip on the Netflix US site and keep an eye on the bitrate/resoution/pixel aspect ratio in the top left corner to get an idea of your streaming performance as the stream ramps up.

Works fine on my Roku 3.

Cool. Thanks for the quick replies.

Do you guys have any tips / hints / tricks for the Roku.

Any good private channels to add etc?

Thanks,

There is a list of remote codes to access the debug, developer mode, quality screens etc. at the bottom of the page.

This is the Roku Speed Test channel although the results might not be very useful ...

Vevo and Pandora are good for music (free).
NowhereTV has a large selection of international news services such as BBC, CNN, NHK World and eNCA (eTV News Channel - seems to freeze a lot).
Smithsonian TV is one of the most popular Roku channels and has some good documentaries
History, A&E and Lifetime channels have been added recently.
LibriVox has a huge selection of public domain audio books.

remoku.tv allows you to control your Roku from a PC, cell phone etc.
A put.io Roku channel if you download torrents ...

This channel can stream from certain WiFi connected drives ...

I can't connect to Netflix or Hulu on the Roku3 for past 2 days. On Netflix the "check your network" option shows that it cannot connect to any of the 4 servers, but internet access is OK. I a,musing telkom adsl 4mb/s and youtube seems to play OK but TED stuttered a few times.

So is Netflix and Hulu not working due to poor internet connection or another option? I access it through UnoTelly and a USA address. Switching modem on/off made no difference so guess next step is to switch of Roku and sign in to all the channels again?

Other ideas?

I sometimes have to remove Netflix and put it back. Then it's fine. Painful - but it works (Sometimes).

Thanks. Will try it tomorrow. Reset and add channels and sign in ... Can I get the "code" from Netflix and Hulu using my iPad wirelessly connected to same ADSL as the Roku or must I bring a notebook from work and use the Ethernet connection ?

Highlight Netflix in your channel list, press * and select remove. Then just add it back again from your channel store. Don't need to reset anything.

How do I get back into my ROKU account AND how do i sign-up as USA?

I put in the DNS entries from Unotelly into the router but on my Netflix via Roku 3 it says it's NOT available for my region yet :-(

Help, please?

The earphones into remote option is absolutely brilliant EXCEPT for the actual USB Media player, quite basic

As far as I know you will now need to create a US account with a new email address.

Also, read this about setting up Unotelly and blocking public dns servers for the Roku
