Hi

So I have decided to get a Roku for our living room as we mostly watch netflix and Hulu and for our bedroom we use a PC connected to the TV with XBMC for shows and movies.

I don't have much content of my own we mostly stream.

So I would like to know what available free channels are there on Roku other than these mentioned above?

Where can I get channels/shows on the XBMC?

Then, I have the Yatse app on my S4, how do I connect the S4 to my PC to use it as a remote?

Also where can I stream MotoGP an SBK?

If I missed something please add.

Thanks

The most useful plugins I have found for XBMC:

1: 1Channel - This should be on all xbmc players by default (all your series and movie needs)
2: Put.io plugin (I use this to schedule all my favorite shows or I want to watch something in HD. It is not free)
3: World News Live - Lets you access about 20-30 news stations from around the world.

Why not get an Android Box and get everything in one? :)

I have committed to a roku already so no point in getting something else now

The US Roku doesn't have much in the way of decent free content compared to XBMC so you may be disappointed. There are a number of free news channels on the Roku such as CNN, BBC, Sky, Al Jazeera, NHK etc. but you may have problems with the streams freezing from time to time. You could also look at the Smithsonian channel for documentaries, Vevo and YouTube for music, Crackle etc. The UK Roku accounts have a lot better free programming such as BBC iPlayer, 4oD, Channel 5 etc. but you will not be able to access Hulu Plus from this account.

If you want to use XBMC then you should rather look at the DroidTV MX or the Amazon Fire TV.

Best would be to set up a Plex server on your network, even if you don't use it for your personal media files you can just use it for the channels if you want.

If you run plex on the pc then you can watch your shows etc in the living room too. You might want to try using plex in the bedroom as well but it doesn't really have all the cool plugins of xbmc. You can control it from the plex app on your phone on both the roku and the pc, or even just watch on your phone.

The one thing that I really miss on the Plex channels something like the Sportsdevil plugin for XBMC. Unfortunately live streaming channels seem to be an issue on the Plex side.

If you haven't already bought the Roku, there is a new quad core version of the Amlogic processor (S802) used in most of those players that you posted above. I would ask AVSupply if this is going to be available shortly as it should be significantly faster than the current dual core. Personally I would narrow the choice down to either the new quad core Droid machine, the DroidTV MX or the Amazon FireTV. AVSupply have a forum rep who has a lot of experience with the DroidTV MX product and would be able to help you get everything running.

Here are two video reviews of the Tronsmart S89 which is an early release of the S802. I would rather wait for the Droid version as it should have more stable firmware but it shows the impressive capabilities of the new chipset.

I have not bought anything yet, I was just set on getting a roku but seeing there is more on offer with a xbmc I think that route should be best

You can install the unsupported appstore on your Plex server and then install LetMeWatchThis (the 1channel crew), SS Plex and Reddit. The first two have series and movies and Reddit has hd movies.

I have a few test units and the firmware is terrible :(

If things improve in the coming weeks, we'll start bringing them in

So i took the plunge and bought the MX. Will see when it arrives.

Our exchange is in our complex and it is for 500 line but there are only about 12 lines on it, so it will most likely be okay.
