So, Starting from this special month (my birth month;)), I wanna be more romantic.

I intend popping up the question on her birth day (September).
So, I want to be as romantic as I would ever be.

So, help guys, HELP!!!

For starters, I googled some ideas.

* Have pillows embroidered with your names, and get monogramed pillow covers and/or buy two gowns and have them embroided/monogramed . Where can I get this done in around Cape Town.

Maelly, the accounts supervisor at CapeAds is very talented, she did some awesome stuff for my ex gf.

I'll show her this thread on Monday and maybe she can suggest something or you can contact her directly and ask her... she's always looking to make some money on the side and I can def guarentee you, the stuff she does is very nice!

She can work from ideas you give her or her own ideas type drill.

PS: PM sent! :)

Tell us about her

What does she do, how old, cultural background, family - how close is she, where do you live, whats your budget?

The birthday is a neat idea

We both African Blacks, she's 23 going 24, she's studying (LLB 4th yr) will finish next year. We've been together since 2003. We both originally from Pretoria, I don't have a huge budget (but am comfortable). What else, oh, she's the only child, raised by a single Mom.

Some female input from my girlfriend here....

She is not a fan of the proposing on her birthday as her first question is would she still get a birthday present and the ring! I have to admit that my first thought too was that your birthday is a special day for someone already... now I suppose you could look at it two ways, one is that it steals the thunder from your special day, while the other is that it makes the day even more special....

And now being a real sceptic when it comes to marriage etc... what if it does not work out with her? For the rest of time she will have to associate her birthday with the engagement.

Sorry, I'm sure this was all meant to be happy stuff but these are just things that I immediately thought and when the GF confirmed these thoughts I thought i'd share them. Interesting to see what others think of the choice of day.

Good point.

The thing is, I was once engaged to her (well, kind of). She proposed to me with her aunt's wedding band back in 2005 (after we had an argued I called the whole thing off), so the good thing is that she has been waiting for this for quite some time:cool:. The bad thing being, she may have gave up on that idea.:(

Yes she does have it (but I suspect it lost its value now). But I cant do it tonight cause (1) am currently in Pretoria and (2) I wanna sweep her off her feet first.

You romantic sod you! :D What about taking her to the very first place you two met, and asking her there. I agree with Lancelot as well, use a different day. What about a holiday? Then it will always be available to celebrate as well.
