I am thinking about installing some ceiling insulation and I have a couple of questions

Which is more effective Think Pink style or Cellulose Fibre Ceiling Insulation (recycled newspaper )

The Cellulose Fibre Ceiling Insulation version is laid in two depths 100mm and 135mm. The 135mm version is said to work better( stands to reason) . However is it really worth the extra cost?

There have been many discussion about this before. Search the forums for aerolite, Isotherm, Cellulose...

I think Isotherm and Cellulose are better products, but it might be worth just going through all the previous discussions.

I used IsoTherm in my ceilings and am happy with the results.

Upstairs in summer I was hitting 41C at 1PM when windows were closed on a hot sunny day. Using 100mm Isotherm, it dropped to 31C. The ceiling follows the roof tiles and there is a gap of about 15 - 20cm between the tiles and ceiling boards which radiated the heat into the upstairs rooms.

Downstairs in the bedrooms the ceilings have your standard cavity you can walk/crouch through. I used 75mm Isotherm and I find that in summer it was not as hot as it used to be. In winter with the heater on, I found myself lowering the temp of the heater as less heat was escaping.

I think in total it cost me R2500 for all the IsoTherm, and my gardener and I did it in 3 hours one Saturday.
