ok spoke to Axxess. aparently they are international, most companies are. and local hosting only costs like R400 a month 
This is a free project and i am not forking out R400 a month to run the website, at the moment it costs us R50 and that is affordable. I am sorry but it will have to stay international, atleast for the time being.
The game server is running from adsl line so i know for a fact that that is local. so atleast anyone can play from local connection.

Had issues moving emulator to version : 224, instead moved straight to Version : 225.

yes. we are using it for beta testing purposes only. when we open to public we will have a descent host.

Dave, it is an option we will look into, but at this stage we have no idea what kind of usage we are looking at. I am not a genuis when it comes to forums and web hosting, i signed up with axxess thinking that if you register localy with a .co.za domain it is automaticly asigned to a local dns. ofcourse it is a lesson hard learned, but there is nothing i can do now but let things run their course and keep it open as an option down the line.
i still dont understand how local bandwitdh can be more expensive than international, that just doesnt make much sense to me at all ......

You work with and talk to a couple of web professionals I presume on a daily basis, no one bothered to mention this VERY important factor when hosting locally.
Did the penny drop why you are the first person to try to host a LOCAL MMORPG, it cost mega bucks to host that kind of bandwidth locally.To be positive I have to say that it was probably for the best that you didn't know, it was meant to be.
Good luck, lets hope that the price of local hosting will drop significantly in the next couple of months.

and who do i work with that has knowledge on local web hosting ? i dont ever remember mentioning that anywhere.
Just because the forum is not hosted localy does not mean the project will in any way fail...
A forum is a forum and only a quarter of players on any server end up posting in forums. hell, i played wow for over 4 years and have never once posted or even been on their forums. i think i checked server status a few times...
The game Server is being hosted localy on local bandwitdh and i can assure you it is quite cheap.
i am offering a local game server with low latency, if you can play on it great, if not then your loss not mine, there are plenty more people out there to take your place, more than i can probly accomodate i can assure you of that.
I am doing this for free and will do so on my terms, not yours or anyone elses. I most certainly do not give a crap about you and will most certainly not pay R400 a month so you can save a few mb of bandwitdh to post on a local forum. you are already getting low latency local gameplay, least you can do is use your international cap to browse a forum.
if not then go play on official server and burn all your international cap away and good luck with the lag. o yes, keep your credit card handy too ...
sorry if i am fuming, but i dont take kindly to people that think the world owes them anything.
Once the game is up and running and i can establish how much bandwitdh is being used, i may move over to a local host, but i wont be bullied into a hasty descision. you want a local forum, then sponsor us one
or wait till we can justify paying for it, right now we consider it a waste.The launcher has a built in mini webpage. it has the latest news, it has links to homepage, forum, server, gallery of latest screenshots, downloads and contact us.
I dont even see why a forum would be needed unless you want to report a bug, and even then if you cant access the forum you can surely report it to a moderator in the chat room or send a mail...

On a more positive note, for those that have not been on the forum.
We have sucessfully moved the emulator from ver :216 to Ver : 225
We had some issues with bonfires and friends list not working, but it was fixed in no time
there are some other bugs i saw in the logs, but they will be fixed before the week is over

Purpose: The purpose of this tutorial is to assist you in acquiring the IRC (Internet Relay Chat) program mIRC and assist you in its configuration so that RoseZA members can log into the channel for real time discussion and classes. The second section of this tutorial will familiarize you with some of the properties of IRC, thus serving as a mini-FAQ. It is NOT meant to be all inclusive.
SECTION 1:
Downloading and Configuring mIRC
1. The following web site contains the program mIRC. mIRC Program There is also a great deal of information to assist you in downloading and setting up mIRC.
Download : mIRC
2. After installation, mIRC should work with no problems. However, some information will have to be added in order to access the Shadowfire servers and thier channels.
a. Once you open mIRC, you should get a dialog box titled "mIRC Options" which allows you to configure mIRC. Enter a name, and your email address. Next enter a nickname (most likely your RoseZA nick) and an alternative nickname.
b. Next you will need to load za.shadowfire.org in the server list. Therefore, you need to do the following:
(1) Click on the Add button. Type the following in:
Description: RoseZA
IRC Server: za.shadowfire.org
Port(s): 6667
(2) Then click the OK button.
3. Then click the "Connect to IRC Server" button. If you typed everything correctly, it should connect and you will see the Status window connecting to za.shadowfire.org. A small window will pop up titled "mIRC Channels Folder" showing a list of default channels the mIRC preloads. But #RoseZA channel, as most other channels aren't there. You have to add them.
a. In the mIRC Channels Folder window, click on the Add Button, type #RoseZA in the Channel edit box and then RoseZA in the Description edit box. If you want to autojoin this channel each time you connect to the Shadowfire server, then check the "Auto-join channel on connect" check box. Then press the OK button. #RoseZA will now be listed with the other channels.
The channel you have added will now be available in the channels folder when you log on to za.shadowfire.org.
4. Next, you need to register your name with the Shadowfire irc server. Once this is done, you can prevent people from using your nickname. After you login to the Shadowfire irc server and join the #RoseZA channel, you will have two windows open; Status and RoseZA.
a. Click on the Status window. Never type passwords into a channel or chat window.
b. In the text window, type the following:
/NickServ REGISTER password email
/NickServ REGISTER is the NickServ command to register a nickname.
password is the password that you will use to log in. DO NOT use your RoseZA password.
email is the email address shadowfire will use to send you your password if you ever forget it.
5. Once your nickname is registered, you will need to identify yourself to the Shadowfire irc server upon entering the server. Just go to the Status window and type the following:
/nickserv IDENTIFY password
/IDENTIFY is the NickServe command to identify you.
password is the password you used when you registered your nickname.
For clarification, you don't need to enter your nickname because when you logged into Shadowfire, your nickname was already set in the window where you clicked the button "Connect to IRC Server".

Q. How do I find out additional information about mIRC.
A. Initially, you can go to the www.mirc.com web site. Next, there are several help and text files located in the Help menu of the mIRC program itself. Please, PLEASE, try to find your answer before asking on one of the channels. Email your commander if necessary. People get tired of answering questions that are readily available if you just look.
Q. How do I find other channels?
A. You can type in /list to get a list of channels.
Q. Now that I'm logged into a channel, how do I log into other channels?
A. From the list of channels window, you can double click on a channel, or you can type in /join #ChannelName
Q. I noticed that some folks have little signs by there names (@, %, and +). What are they for?
A. Those signs identify channel operators with varying degrees of authority. DO NOT ask to be "oped" or to receive "op rights". Each of the shadowfire channels have rules for authorizing operator rights. If you're not sure, ask your commander. The following is a description of the signs:
@ ChanOP or Op, these folks are the rulers of the channel. They have the authority to /kick and/or /ban you from a channel. In #RoseZA, these folks are normally Marshalls and selected Generals, however that may vary from time to time due to various reasons.
% Hops or Halfops. These folks are Half Operators, with limited authority to assist the channel operators. In #RoseZA, these folks are chosen by Channel Operators to assist with running the channel.
+ The individual is "voiced". This means they have limited authority to assist the channel operators.
In different channels, different rules are established by the founder of the channel and it's operators for assigning Op, Halfop and Voice. Remember, don't ask for these privledges.

You have pretty much flamed anyone that has said anything slightly negative, when in fact the end of my post was meant to be positive. As a business owner I cannot agree with your statements that there are plenty other people that can take my place, If I had that business ethic then I might as well close my doors today. South Africa is a tough market you need all the help you can get and for me it has come from the most unexpected places. I know that you are launching a game and not a business, but at the end of the day its the same thing. I have no right to tell you how to run your game, but I can give some advice that has worked for me.
So if I may try again - Good luck, lets hope that the price of local hosting will drop significantly in the next couple of months.

the problem is that you were being sarcastic. you know there is a bigger chance that hell will freeze over than S.A lowering prices on anything let alone bandwitdh...
This project is coming out my own pocket at the moment, the web hosting, the server hosting, the software, hardware, installation costs for adsl which is already climing close to 1K on its own. not to mention the hours i spend on this project ( atleast 6 hours a day 7 days a week. ).
And when i post some news about the server, the following 10 posts, people that are not even playing yet, including you are b!tch!ng about the fact that the forum isnt local and giving me quotes that are 4 times the price of what i am currently paying.
it's all good and well that you are running your own business, but you make a profit, it puts food on the table. this project doesnt.
If you want a local forum , sponsor the bandwitdh and you will have it. if you have not contributed then i dont see how your opinion is valid.
When i post news it is to inform you of progress, not for you to give advice on my hosting situation. and you really could have sent me a PM instead of posting it out there for all to see.
I am stating facts, not flaming anyone.
I am trying to host a local game server in a country with *****ty connection speed where everything is over priced and no one will help in any way, this is after all S.A.
I am working with what i got for the time being and not crippling myself financialy doing it.
If i pull this off, and i will. people will be flooding my inbox with mails all wanting to help sponsor the forum, host the server and lick my @ss if i want them too. but until that happens i have a thin line when it comes to budget, and everyone is just gonna have to understand that.

you allways have one idiot on the forums that you simply cannot ban because it is just to entertaining to watch them make an @ss of themselves...
