Its hard to express sarcasm as it is all in the tone of the voice, body language etc. Trust me when I say I really meant that I hoped that bandwidth prices would come down.

When i post news it is to inform you of progress, not for you to give advice on my hosting situation. and you really could have sent me a PM instead of posting it out there for all to see.

You have a point, I do apologize for that.

I am trying to host a local game server in a country with *****ty connection speed where everything is over priced and no one will help in any way, this is after all S.A.

There are good people in SA who will help you out without expecting anything in return,I am fortunate to know a few of those.

If i pull this off, and i will. people will be flooding my inbox with mails all wanting to help sponsor the forum, host the server and lick my @ss if i want them too. but until that happens i have a thin line when it comes to budget, and everyone is just gonna have to understand that.

Slightly arrogant, but in weird way it might be true.

To be honest with you Thriel I think that you are doing something that no one else has even attempted and I like people who takes those kinds of risks because everyone knows that the bigger the risk the bigger the reward.

I have been under alot of pressure and there has been more negativity than i had hoped for. Seems alot of people hopes that this project will fail. If i was rude in any way i apologise for that, i assumed you were mocking me.

I dont want to chase away potential players :)
 
No need to apologize, I have no doubt that you will succeed, you seem to be a hard worker and thats what it takes to succeed. I will register once it is open for the public.
 
I see you mention that your loader uses a mini web page to display everything. Is that part of the client or is it a website that gets loaded in the frame? Just curious as it may raise more of the issues that have come up about whether its local or not.

Project sounds interesting. Looking forward to taking it for a spin

Iv'e redesigned the launcher, it now has patching abilities, it will search your current version and auto patch you to server version, it also displays a short news clip.

it is a stand alone news page which will be hosted on the same machine as the server, the registration page will be there too. So basicly the only thing that wont be local is the homepage and the forum.

the launcher content, registration / news pages and the actual server are all local as well as the irc server ( which is operational ).

So you can play on local bandwitdh, you just cant post on forum on local bandwitdh. but you can join irc chat on local :)

I know it seems i spend alot of time on the launcher, but it is a vital part of hosting a game as it can eliminate alot of manual work on the player side and therefore people like me dont have to sit and explain 400 times over and over how to apply patches or where to click to register accounts etc...

yes you can. not currently because i am still busy designing the registration page. but when its done it will be hosted localy.


only the homepage and forum will not be local.


Registration = Local
Patching = Local / international
IRC chat channel = Local
News Page in launcher = Local
Game Server = Local
Forum = International
Homepage = International

that is how the situation is, the homepage and forum are out of my hands, local bandwitdh is just out of my reach financialy at this point in time, i will revise it down the road.

for now you can register an account, keep up to date with news, chat in the irc channel and play the game on local bandwitdh.

Anyway, there is a very nice news update on the roseza forums, some good news and some indepth server news.
