Hi

What's a good rotary shaver for someone (i.e. me :D) that shaves infrequently i.e. 1 - 2 weeks? Looking for one that doesn't struggle to shave stubble and has a short charge cycle i.e 1-2 hours maximum. Also prefer wet shave to dry, so it must be a waterproof one.

Thanks :)

There's a Nivea one with a moisturizer you clip into it that's wet/dry. Pretty good for an electric shaver. Why not proper wet shave with a double-edge safety blade or cut throat ;-)

Hey Airwolf, why not consider a foil shaver? I have found the rotary shaver does not agree with my skin and is fairly harsh. The foil shaver gives me a very close shave with minimal irritation.

I would recommend the Bruan 380, that is a wet/dry shaver. Can be used in the shower and with foam if you wish. I have the older Braun Flex II and it is awesome.

I am thinking of upgrading to the 390cc which has the clean and renew system.

As said above, get a Braun shaver.

When I visited the UK I got the Remington R1 which was very good for 4 years cause I barely shaved. I had to replace it and went with another rotary but all you get here in SA is Phillips which turned out to be the worst decision ever. I switched to Bruan and I'm very glad that I did.

Glomail = crap for anything. I wouldn't touch a shaver that was sold by them.

Also, if you're hell-bent on a rotary shaver, make sure you buy something that will have replacement cartridges available should you need to replace them later. The Remington R1, for example...sheesh... The replacement blades for those are unobtainium!

I tried to import a Braun 790cc about a year ago via wantitall. They had to cancel the order, because allegedly it was a flammable object. So after being disappointed with that I kinda thought I will never get one.

The other day I walked into Dischem in Canal walk, saw the same shaver there...

Though I haven't bought it yet. I have read really good reviews about that specific one on the net.

I am trying to decide if the clean and renew system is worth it. Anyone have one / seen one in action?

So you guys recon the 390cc is the best electrical shaver to get?

I am also looking to get a new shaver, whats the price on it and where can I buy it?

Its not the best, you get the 5 series which his no doubt better and then the 7 series which is no doubt better than the 5.

Depends what you want to spend. From looking around the 390cc looks like the best value for money retailing at about R1100. The 5 series starts at about R1599 I think.

I have the Phillips Senso Touch 3D. MUCH better than a foil shaver for anything more than 4 days of growth. And using a bit of shaving cream + water makes the world of difference.

Okay, thanks for the advise guys. Braun it is then.

Have the Glomail Kleen Cut foil shaver and that is crap, that's why I wanted to try the rotary.
