Router Advise

Hey guys, I need your advise!!!

When I singed up with telkom some time ago, I also bought the stupid marconi router. I know, it's a ****ty thing but at that time I just moved down here from Germany and didn't know how bad that thing and telkom in general was.

Since then I always seem to have some problems with port forwarding and that kind of stuff and I was wondering if it was advisable to get a new router?

I don't want to waste money if it isn't worth it. All I want is my download speeds to exceed 3kb/s (which they do with MrBEEPs service but I want them to work without it as well) and I', not sure if my router could have anything to do with that.

So any advice? New router or not? If yes, which one and to which price?

3kb per second sounds like a definite issue, but check it's not the site you're downloading from before you go buying new hardware.
 
believe me... I checked too many sites and downloading programs. I'm just tired of trying :-).

So you think it's not a router problem?

For those of you using dc++: are using it in passive mode (like me) or in active, if yes which ports? Cause whatever I do I can't establish a connection to other users in active mode... servers do connect.

To those of you using azureus: which ports are you using and what speeds are you normally getting?

And why the hell doesn't goolge earth work on pcs in my network??? not mine and not my laptop and not my dad? could that be a router problem as well?
