Hello, first post so....

With Eskom sending us back to the primitive days, I want to get a UPS or backup battery thing for my fibre CPE box and router.

I've got an "Asus RT-AC87U AC2400" router, and I'm not at all familiar with figuring what would work with this or not. My CPE is the Raycore one.

Any advice is really appreciated :)

Literally two posts below this post...

Well probably not. Search for “19v UPS battery”

Thanks, so my router says it's a 19V/2.37A input and the DC outputs on this product is 12V. Guessing it wouldn't work?

I've been searching around online for something for 19V but can't find anything. Hoping someone here would offer some help or advice.

Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions but really have no experience in this lol.

Btw, I see it supports 5v, 9v, 12v, 15v, 19v and 24v

I've got a very similar spec router (Netgear Nighthawk AC2400) and my UPS (RCT 1000VA) runs my router, fibre box and philips hue smart hub for about 2h40m. https://www.takealot.com/rct-1000va-line-interactive-ups/PLID32714411

I would go for the RCT or Mecer 2000VA considering our load shedding is now at 4 hour slots.

R589 incl. VAT.

Looks like a decent though double the price alternative of powerbank to power/charge a small device/appliance besides a phone.
What are the courier costs to main centres countrywide?

I paid R49 shipping in Gauteng. I might be mistaken but I think it was a flat rate. I saw one on Takealot for over R800, google it and found PC Link's the cheapest. Bought 2 without realising it comes with a cable to support two devices. Power...for days.

Well we'll see. It arrived this morning (next day nogal) so will be able to test it. For the price though, I don't have exceptionally high hopes.

EDIT: Packaging looks decent though and the device feels pretty solid.

Cheers for that, much appreciated.

Do some tests on somethings besides a phone, I'm curious if it can in fact do what i claims on the tin!

Need to find a converter. DC 5.5 to 2.1 or whatever the hell the router uses :/

Have a late meeting tomorrow and gone for weekend so will only be able to test next week if I can find one :(

No sweat, I have the Mecer 2000VA 2x9Ah UPS currently... but always looking around for alternative possible power solutions before I fork out 5k on a decent inverter with 100+ A battery solution.

Damn you got lucky with next day delivery. Waited seven days to be told that my order is cancelled and the item is removed from their site

Hi

Did you ever find a solution? I'm in the same boat. Same setup.
The Mikrotik that I got from the service provider works with my mini ups I bought from Takealot, but not my Asus.
