Hi guys
Long story short.
About two and a half weeks ago I had to replace a router which was struck by lightning. Fine, I buy a new router from a supplier and opt for wireless. I receive a D-Link DIR615 Draft N.
I connect it to the ADSL filter and line and wham, the phone line is dead. Disconnect the router and phone line works again (I get a dial tone etc.). Router refuses to Sync to Telkom or connect to ISP.
I phone Telkom and log a fault. A few days later the technician pitches and says our new router is faulty. I go to the premises again and recheck all settings etc. I see it has the same symptoms as previously.
I test the router on our ADSL line at work and yep, it doesn't seem to connect to our line according to it's status.
I get a replacement last Friday (same model, sealed box) and go to install it at the premises.
I can configure the router as I please through it's web interface. As soon as I stick the router in the line, the phone line goes dead (new router).
Now I just don't know anymore.
I've set the router to use a PPPoE connection with the correct details. I've tried connecting the router to the line without the filter, but it just refuses to connect/sync.
So I phone Telkom once more and they say they'll escalate the issue;
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I am completely baffled and I would seriously appreciate any constructive input.
Thank you.
tera
