Router problem

I cant connect to my router on 10.0.0.2 I was on the internet and then it stopped working. I thought I was capped so I tried to access the router but I cant. I tried resetting it. I've been on hold to telkom for 30mins.
 
i don't no anything about these things but did you unplug it and then plug it back in again?
 
Its a telkom mega 105. I finally got through and the technician seemed to think its broken as the router was not responding to the reset button so he gave me a reference number to get it swapped out.
 
Holding in the reset button for 10 seconds or so will remove some settings (account details), but the password should also revert to admin. At which point is it failing? I presume you are connected to it via cable, and some lights are showing?
 
Yes some lights are showing it is connected but the technician said that i should hold in the reset button for 30 seconds and the lights should stop and then start again but they are doing nothing.
 
Before the mega 105? I was using a different telkom one. Dunno what it was though.

Was the router powered off when you attempted resetting it?
 
dude, with that router surely your IP address should be like 10.0.0.12 or something like that


I've got the feeling pooky's router doesn't like him either... and how is he typing on mybb then?

He has an iPhone as far as I can tell. The default IP is correct scotty.
 
This is a long shot, but make sure your router is connected directly to the phone line and not through the POTS filter.

Before taking it back I would reset everything, power down, check everything and go through the setup from scratch.

I would have thought that 10.0.0.1 would be more correct than both 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.12, but it is a Telkodemonopolies branded device so anything illogical is to be expected.

I suspect the problem is PEBRAC.

I have used 10.0.0.2 ever since I have had a router. I have unplugged everything, switched it all off and on,

What is PEBRAC? Cause if it's what that other guy said then that's a bit swak. I'm not an idiot, nomatter what everyone thinks.

I'm pretty sick of being insulted by just about everyone on the forum, now even the mods it seems.
