hi, got a question i got 2 routers atm

trendnet 300mbps one and tp link w8970

the cheaper trendnet one give me a snr of 10.1
but it drops often (or used to)

the tplink, are more stable, but only get a snr of 7.8
at the same sync speed

so wondering why are there that big change?

also what router will give me best of both, the stability of the tp and the snr of the trendnet(maby even better)

thank you

i dont know anyone who can borrow me a routher, wonder how asus/netgear routers will respond to my line

trendnet use G.992.5_Annex_A

not sure for the number but the tplink also use "A"

Realtek in the trendnet
and
Lantiq in the tp link

so it seems (googled)

wonder how a broadcom one will work

ok so chipset plays in the snr,

how does brand and annax play a roll?

would like to get the best snr/stability i can from my line at my distance from the exchange,

getting a good chipset seems to be one option but may one be higher but less stable?

What DSL device are you linked to in the exchange?

DSLAM, IMAX, MSAN or ISAM ??

Some chipsets work better with certain devices than others.

I know you playing for 10meg, if you switch to GDMT you will cut down to 8Meg. That will give you the best stats.

i am on adsl2+ but only sync at 8mbps when i set it to gdmt it wont sync
I had the same problem but the other way round. Couldn’t sync on ADSL2+. Phoned Telkom and they fixed it.
Changing from G-dmt to ADSL2+ didn’t change my router SNR and Attenuation drastically.
