Router Recommendation ?

The last screenshot looks correct. It just puts it in bridge mode.

Don't know if the antennas are detachable, haven't played with that model before.

Do you have the certs?

Yes I have the certs but will only play with that once I can get it working as the primary wifi for the house.
Battling to get clarity on whether the antenna's are removable some people say yes, some say no, some reviews of Amazon say yes they are but so far nothing concrete :)

This site says they are removable - http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/bc/hardware/?action=h_view&model_id=1412 have replied to AfricanTech's link above as he has one and can maybe confirm this.

Ah, I have no idea if they are removable - Wifi is disabled on my Mikro (uninstalled the Wifi 'package' on the router) since I use Ubiquitis to provide coverage.

You may want to test and see if you get decent coverage anyway - my personal experience is that the longer antennas don't make much of a difference (looks sadly at drawer filled with various models of extended antennas used with consumer routers pre-Mikrotik/Ubiquiti days)

Just phoned Scoop, they said no, definitely not detachable. Mikrotik must have some logic in that, better quality antenna's than the usual rubbish pushed out with most wifi routers claiming to be good. Would hate to see the 15dbi external dipole antenna connected to the Dlink go to waste. Have anyway ordered the last one in stock in JHB and have 2-3 days to collect so I can read a bit more. Thanks for the help ;)

recently got the TP Link Archer D7.. I could not be any happier with it. I think the D2 you can still get fro a good price as well.

Here's something I found quite interesting, even though the external antenna's say 4dbi, look at the transmit power in the attached screenshot. No other vendors like Asus, Dlink seem to give that specification. Is this where the difference comes in? Are people fooled by seeing 4dbi for an antenna and thinking it's rubbish meanwhile it's transmitting at 30dbi ??? Am I correct in this thinking?

Thanks for the info, where did you buy it? Who are the dealers for TP-Link?
I see it has detachable antennas so +1 there
Any experience with connecting it to OpenVPN?

open VPN, negative, havent done anything like that. However, i find the setup and UI really easy for the TP Link router. The tether app is also great. The D2 at R1200 is is a good price. Incredible recently had it on sale for R999, but i see its no longer the case.
