Routers: TP-LINK C60 vs Asus RT-AC1200 vs ???

Hi all

I’ve got excellent speeds during a speed test but there are lots of times where everything stops and nothing is transferred between the device and router at all even though I’ve got good signal.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s my router.

I'm looking for something in the +/- R1,000 range and 2 that I've identified are:

• https://www.asus.com/za/Networking/RT-AC1200
• https://www.tp-link.com/za/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-c60/

Any advice on which one I should get or other suggestions.

I need something with excellent range and that can IRL handle +12 devices connected but only around 4 active at a time.

Both those routers are very similar and more than enough for a 20Mbps line and 12+ devices.

I also have C2 TP-Link router, but mine is set up as an AP... I also have times when internet freezes but only when using it on my phone. Selecting airplane mode and disabling again gets things moving. I have updated the firmware tonight to see if that helps.
