routesentry and vista

Ah thats bad! Just when I thought MS sorted out some network related issues with windows! hehe anyway hope you get a suitable solution! Routesentry ROCKS!

i hope something comes up fast.....atm i use xp mainly but got vista on different partition, want raspppoe for vista to switch to it as my main os :(

im in the same boat man

i wanna go and buy vista home premium tomorrow but i dont think i will unless routesentry gets sorted :(

Could somebody try setting up 1 pppoe and 1 'dialup' (56k modem) connection on vista and then test RouteSentry with them. I'd like to know if RouteSentry will still route the traffic. If so all you guys need to do is find a way to get 2 pppoe connections going on vista.

I switched back to XP for

1) RASPPOE
2) Gaming Performance
3) most 3rd party applications are still bugged, and drivers for sound card. (No Control Panel for smart detection)

ok ok wait a pppoe plus a 56k dial up

i will load up vista in the morning and try

antibody wanna have your kids

How about this, is it possible to reconfigure route sentry to route only local traffic to PPPoE connection and others to default gateway ie your router or vice versa. That way you can set you router with international account and have that up all the time and if it allows pppoe passthru/bridge then make the local with PPPoE and route traffic accordingly. Tho not sure if windows visa allows u access to local ip's after PPPoE connection is made. actually tested it now on xp.. can access router still :)

but routesentry works fine in windows xp i dunno bout the routing, not much point knowing if it works if we cant have 2 pppoe connections

That might work. Who wants to donate a modem that supports both pppoe and router modes to me so I can try to get it working? :)

We all know it works in XP. The point is I need to know whether it works on vista or not regardless of problems getting 2 pppoe's working together. I don't have access to any vista PCs atm otherwise I'd test it myself.

oops i meant it works in vista cause i can connect to the one account

do you want to me to mail you the vista rtm?

or we can dcc it :)

I'll give it a go. Can I do routed and bridged with my Telkom/Marconi 4 Port?

And this is why a linux box running 2 pppoe connections and sharing it to the whole network works a whole lot better ;)

Means I can run whatever OS on any other PC in the house and it still gets routed properly, with a decent firewall too!

Also, I have now also started to use privoxy (to block ads and bad javascript and exploits) and squid (chain on top of privoxy to give transparent caching support)

I like all the good things you can do with a linux router to make the internet a better ride.

But I hope for you guys that they soon write a new rasppoe, since I believe its only the drivers that need a rewrite. The core of routesentry should still work in my opinion even though I havent tested it.
