:)Wonder what those drives cost new...

What job is this machine going to do?
Which O/S?

Got the 3 80GB drives and spent a lot of time learning the ins and outs of Intel Storage Matrix VS LSI roms. Windows 10 does not like ISM, no matter if it is RAID-0, 1 or 5. Switching to LSI the only option I had was RAID-0 but man, that thing flies! Nowhere near SSD though, but a nice touch.

Also installed new LEDs for power and HDD.

I also have a soundcard, more RAM and the Xeon CPU on the way. Will make a video of it once all is done.

Never under estimate the speed of SSDs. After that last benchmark I upped the RAID to 4 disks and got :

Yesterday I replaced those 4 noisy drives with a single cheap SSD and it saturated the SATA II (3gbps) connection.

Also makes the case a lot less crowded.

Uhg I HATE those old plastic screwless designs, have yet to meet one that does not stop working for some reason.... mostly the reason is something breaks with the more flimsy one's, this sahara one on the other hand..... ur never quite sure the damn thing you installed is actually secure.

Got it with a low CMOS battery which resulted in the board loosing the cooling status, super loud fans....

Tried two Nvidia and two AMD GFX cards and they all crash under mild use. I think the 12V running at 10V could be the cause.

Sold the Sun board and PSU for more than I spent on the computer, so for once I came out ahead. Then again last week I blew what I got today (R800) on an AM3 board that I plan to take to 6 cores in future.

Right now I have my office PC at home too so that brings the total to 4. My main Ryzen 5 APU rig on the desk, FX-8800 server next to the desk, Sun case with the AM3 rig and ontop my work Dell Optiplex 7050.

I'll plan to make a video on the Sun build sometime in the future.
