RSAWeb billing customers before using the service

In my dealings with ISPs (or any kind of service provider) in the past I've always been billed at the end of the current month for use of the service in the current month.

RSAWeb seems to think it's ok to bill the person at the beginning of the month. This fact was only disclosed to me when I disputed an invoice with them, which was in the 3rd month I'd been with them (the first two months were free as part of a promotion).

What legal options do I have to:

- Either get them to charge me at the end of the month for the current month
OR
- Get out of the contract for not making me aware of their billing procedure

Is it not in their T&Cs that you had to agree to? Don't see why it's such a issue? If you dispute any inner month connectivity issues then just be sure they credit you back?

As far as I understand from my bill Afrihost do the exact same, any issues or such is just credited to me off my following months bill.

ISP gives you data upfront to use so you need to pay for that use.

I'm with Cool Idea and we pay for the month ahead at the start of the month. When on ADSL I've been with Afrihost, WebAfrica and Axis, in all cases, payment was in advance. I believe this is standard practice for the industry. The only time I can see you would be on post payed would be with unbundled data, ie. data that is in excess of any cap you bought.

As others have said, it is paid in advance. Paid in arrears, at the end of month, put this in credit then the credit act comes into play, and been approved for credit plus the hassles. So ISP's just do the most logical and bill upfront.

Their T&Cs don't mention anything about billing. When I was with Afrihost I was always billed at the end of the month. Same with CrystalWeb.

Have accounts with both ISPs and can confirm that you pay in advance on the 1st of every month.

Either you just didn't understand the way it was being done or so forth but for as long as Iv been with Afrihost (6years) it's always been this way.

I'm fairly certain Afrihost is paid in advance as well.

What's the problem?

End of the Month for the following month.

Which is why with AH you can cancel your service before the 25th of the current month and not get billed again.

Seems like someone isn't able to read their invoices correctly......

I know how billing works. I received invoices from Afrihost and CrystalWeb respectively at the end of the final month I was with them.

Cool then you must be on a unique billing run compared to the other 99.9% of customers.

This thread can be deleted if a moderator feels inclined to do so. No one's providing any useful feedback to my question which is making this thread pointless.

The first question that I think is on most people's mind is what difference does it make?

Secondly why do you feel so inclined to take legal steps due to a simply billing run date?

Sounds to me like you want a easy way out of our contract that you have.

Hi OP

I think what the guys are pointing out is that, in this case nothing seems to be wrong. We all pay in advance. It should be pro rata from the day u started.

Crystal Web is billed for the month ahead as well. Pretty sure Plugg and Afrihost was the same.
