I use rsync on Linux machines, and am thinking using it on Windows as well.

Has anyone here had experience in using the Windows version of rsync, and does it work as well as the Linux version?

This will be running on Windows 7 64 bit and synchronising over a network and also to a local external hard drive.

Not sure about Rsync. I use robocopy command that is built in to the newer versions of windows. Extremely powerful command, check out the options carefully first before using. Lots of info on the web on how to use.

Install cygwin and use rsync as on linux.
Had no issues this far.
Just make sure to install any utils you use in your scripts as well.

Delta copy is a nice GUI overlay for RSync on Windows.

Thanks, it looks like there is some good support here for the Cygwin / DeltaCopy implementations.

I had also been thinking about robocopy. My preference for rsync was due to the confidence that I have built up in it over time.
