Rude colleagues

I don't get along with anyone at our offices. They are all so friendly and "greety". Why can't they just leave me alone!

:p

Sounds like he's a grumpy c*nt.
I take a special pleasure in being bright and friendly to people like this, it seems to piss them off even more. No need to have a conversation or anything, just always give a bright and chirpy hello as you walk past him in the morning. Show him that his sourpuss attitude doesn't affect you. He obviously gets a perverse pleasure in bringing people who are happy down. A bit of "If I can't be happy then no-one can".

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but I have a friend like that (housemate actually) and if I don't watch myself I become as depro as he is even if I was in a good mood before.

Yeah you sound like quite the cocksucker :p

"Good Morning" - "What's good about it?"

"Howzit" - "Mine's fine. How's yours."

"Never ask a question if you don't want to know the answer" - "That's why I Never say ""How are you?"""

My general rule is if I greet you and you don't greet back then you dont get greeted again... Greeting continues when I get greeted.

I think this is the right place for working relationships.

So, basically, I'm thinking about cold-shouldering a colleague that I perceive to be very rude.

1 - In the mornings if I great him and ask him how he is he just walks bye and responds by saying "Morning" and "I could be better" and that is that. Now I know most folks don't really care about how you are doing but shouldn't it be common deceny for him to say something on the lines of "I'm fine thanks, and yourself?". I just find it rude and really quite depressing. Everybody could be better, but I don't take a dump on colleagues at 7 in the morning that are trying to be civil and friendly, however disingenuous it is.

2 - If we get into a discussion it eventually becomes a one-sided lecture on his part. Everything I say is wrong and I literally have to shout my way back into the convo - he repeatedly cuts me off, even if I tell him on numerous occasions to let me finish - and eventually I just chuck the towel in and nod and say "yeah", ''mmm" or ''I never knew that", even if it is a topic in which I am well-read.

The worst part is that we have to work together, but I honestly could not be interested anymore. Greetings will now be a simple "morning" and I will refrain from any small talk and avoid conversations like the plague. I've always had easy going colleagues that I've gotten on well with, but this is knew and unpleasant to me.

/Rant over.

Lol even after your spell check edit, its still wrong:D

You have to learn to be thick-skinned. Politicians are born like that

To play a bit of devil's advocate, I don't always ask people how they are in return unless I actually give a crap. It's not that I'm trying to be rude, but I honestly don't really care how they are. If they ask me how I am I'll politely respond, but I probably won't ask how they are in return.

On the other hand, him being a know-it-all is kinda a deal-breaker. Hate people like that.

Newsflash : They don't really care how you are either. It's called having manners, you might have heard of it.

One of my family members is a know-it-all like that. Even if she has never done/experienced something, she will have a million things to say about it. Shut up, listen and learn!
