Rudi Jansen is the former CEO of MWEB.
Rudolf Jansen was with the MIH Group, MWEB’s holding company, for more than a decade. He originally joined MIH as a Group Management Accountant in 1996 and then became one of the first employees of MWEB when it was formed in 1997, being appointed head of finance – a position he held until 2003. Before his appointment as CEO of MWEB in 2005, he held the position of Chief Financial Officer for the MIH Internet Segment for two years.
Prior to joining MIH, Jansen spent six years with Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers), including a secondment to the Cayman Islands.
As CEO of a leading Internet Service Provider (ISP) in South Africa with some 300 000 members, Jansen is responsible for overseeing several different divisions including the Connect, Mobile and Business units. He also constantly reviews new opportunities to ensure MWEB remains at the forefront of technology.
Jansen has always been fascinated by the Internet and new technology and believes the provision of fast Internet to be vital to the achievement of South Africa’s economic growth potential.
Jansen qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1993, and has a B.Com (Cum Laude) from Potchesfstroom University and a B.Compt (Hons) from Unisa.
