I really hope Oupa doesn't get into the starting team again. Much rather go with Notshe.

Depends, he did very well with the Springbok A side and also carried the captaincy at a high, also shined with the Cheetahs. I do agree that he had a dismal Springbok career…

My issue with Notshe is that he is underplayed, this will change with the 2017 season.

I was really surprised to see de Jongh, then I remembered that he is Coetzee’s golden boy. The sevens has improved his game, whether it will carry over to the 15-player game is a marginal call. De Jongh is only a good player when he exercises control over the ball, his WP game taught him to hold on to the ball. We need an attacking line, and I do not see de Jongh promote the rugby that we need in the backline.

At least Habana is still a bullet…

This is bad logic, how do uncapped player gain experience if they are not picked. By your logic we must never pick young player on form because 'No experience at the highest level'. All Springboks players (all players around the world) started with no experience at the highest level. The next world cup is in 2019, 3 years for young players to gain experience.

Duane Vermeulen withdrawn from Bok squad

Springbok No 8 Duane Vermeulen has suffered a knee injury while playing for his French club Toulon and was on Saturday withdrawn from the Springbok squad.

The Springboks face Argentina next week in the first Castle Lager Rugby Championship Test match of the year.

The opening test of the 2016 campaign takes place next Saturday, 20 August at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

Vermeulen underwent a MRI scan on Friday evening after playing for his club and he will in all likelihood undergo surgery next week to repair damages caused by the recurring injury to his right knee.

The Springbok management has confirmed that for now, no replacement will be called up as they feel the squad currently has sufficient cover amongst the loose forwards for the first test against Argentina. They will assess the situation thereafter.

Meanwhile, the Springbok squad reassembles tomorrow (Sunday 14 August) in Johannesburg to resume with their preparations for the Pumas encounter.

Their overseas-based players as well as two Springbok Sevens Olympians will join the Bok squad in Johannesburg, from where they will travel to Nelspruit.

The Boks, who haven't won this title since 2009, are a long way behind world champion New Zealand this season according to the bookmakers.

But De Jager thinks his team can impress if they dominate up front with a typically South African style of play that could upset their opponents.

"I think we'll always want to win and first prize will be winning the trophy. We don't care about the All Blacks now, that is coming later on," he told The Star.

"We don't have to change our whole game to be like them. We don't want to be like the All Blacks. We want to play our brand."

He added: "We want to play a Springbok brand of rugby and maybe tweak it a little bit here and there but still stick to the fundamentals of our game and what made the Springboks a great team over the years.

"We are not going to change too much, we are just working hard on the small things and details, and getting that right."

Cape Town - Lwazi Mvovo and Sikhumbuzo Notshe were released from the Springbok squad and have returned to their home provinces on Tuesday afternoon.

They remain part of the overall Bok squad but will not feature in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship opener on Saturday against Argentina.

As a precaution, Francois Hougaard will not be considered for selection for the first two Tests against Argentina.

Hell I'm the process of cancelling my DStv. Rugby was always the reason why I had it but this year I've watched less and less and I think it's time to focus more on my other hobbies.
