Family member has a samsung android. Forgot which model - A something. Very mid range

Anyway it's a complete turd. As in can't hold a stable whatsapp call. Functionally useless given that family member wants to talk to relatives overseas.

The actual internet link is fine. iphones and high end androids connect fine. So whatever it is it's either the phone itself or it's ability to connect to the wifi is actively killing voip calls.

Right so kick the shitty samsung to the curb...but replace it with what?

Mid range samsung *IS* my go to for reliable cheap android. Now what?
 
Xiaomi redmi note 8
Nokia 2.3, 3.2, 6.2, 7.2 etc
Also saw the Vivo range and some look good (but I've not handled one yet) like the Y11
 
Nokia 1. Cheap, tough and gets the job done reliability every time. Had mine for 15 months and zero issues.

And we're on Android 10 now :thumbsup::).
 
Some high end LG devices (like the LG G7) cost around the same as the Samsung mid-rangers. There was a deal not long ago for the LG V40 which is a great device. People don't seem to rate LG very much, but my gf has a G7 and it's very snappy and stable. Just don't expect to get Android version updates on time.

Depends what phone it is and maybe doesn't have much ram. Let him/her delete unnecessary apps and and turn updates off on non necessary apps. Also, instead of normal Facebook, rather use Facebook lite.

A phone should have a minimum of 2gb ram, more is better but if you go lower than 2gb, the phone struggles and starts to freeze.

Maybe (s)he dropped the device but was afraid to tell you about the incident because you were already pi$$ed off?

Think A60 or A50 but not sure. Should be capable of running whatsapp...

It has def been dropped multiple times. Doesn't seem like something that would lead to unstable wifi but possible I guess. Nah not pissed off at all - it's not primarily a $$$ issue
 
The problem may not be in the technical part but in the connection via the Internet, the impact of traffic and network packets, I advise you to consider this analogy.
 
I have an A50 and it runs WhatsApp fine. Been on WhatsApp calls when I was overseas and calling home, no issue.
 
AGM A9 - price is great and you can use the speakers as a self defence weapon
AGM X9 - Better specs than the A9, lighter but smaller battery, speakers are a bit quieter that the A9.

My son has the A9 and I have the X3. Great phones.

Had a colleague uy the 9900 from there. Looks a great phone but bliksem its heavy and too bulky for my liking. I wanted to buy one of their cheaper rugged but after having seen the bulk/weight I opted for a sleek Vivo Y91 instead. I disliked the fact that it has a customized upside down (action buttons like wifi Bluetooth etc) slides out from the bottom) but the custom has a few cute and nift stuff built in, one which I particularly like is that longpushing power and volume down in the dark turns on the flash (discovered this as I was fumbling to put my phone on the charger before bedtime lol).

Like the poster above me said about the AGM A9's speaker, this one can pretty much be used the same way. F#$@#ck this thing is the loudest cellphone I ever had and it doesn't even have front mounted speakers, only the generic type bottom exit

The A9 has 4 x JBL rear mounted. Better sound than many BT speakers. The X3 only has 2 JBL rear mounted.
