And dont forget same time theres the rumour of a new Iphone in september.

Apple loves screwing us but this is ridiculous!!
It hasnt been a full year since Ipad 2 released.

How? With the exception of them not yet releasing an overdue update to the iphone they follow a predictable release cycle - particularly with their IOS devices. Even the analyst in question points out that this is pure speculation.
"While we find this new commentary interesting, we await more confirming data points from other supply chain contacts before fully believing a new iPad device is coming in 2011," the analyst added.

hmmm....makes me feel a little better now...thanks for that bwana.
That's media for you ..."speculate" & sensationlise & give the public the runs!

I did some searching, and it seems that the claims of a retina display is somewhat unfounded, at least for the moment.

It seems that currently nobody is able to produce such a screen and the technology will only be available in 2013 (a development contract was awarded to a company for this by apple). Not to mention the huge impact it will have on GPU requirements to handle a display with 4 times the number of pixels, esp in games.

Uhh dude, it's not going to happen. .. so don't get all pissed off just yet.

Apple will stick to the 1 year refresh cycle.

I heard somewhere that Apple was looking at a 6 months release cycle to keep up with Android phones - but I do think this is utter speculation as well. The thing is - the iPad is pretty much the favourite tablet at the moment. If Apple has a super retina display available for use in a tablet, why would they infringe on their our sales by introducing a new iPad so soon after the current one? They own the market - and they will definitely continue to own it for the next year. Then everybody expects a new iPad in any case.

Heard the iPhone 5 (which most rumours expects for a September US release, to coincide with IOS5) was delayed because of manufacturing problems - although it is possible that Apple wants to release it with version 5 of the OS.

Good thing our local retailers are so dropping the ball on the Ipad 2 with stock. I could not find ANY 3G+Wifi Ipad 2 stock in the biggest stores in Pretoria that are suppose to sell these things [Istore,Incredible, DionWired] .

I mean really, why are are they even advertising the Ipad 2 if they never have stock. So i guess i'll just wait some more, blessing in disguise.

Well this is *possible*, but seeing as Apple can't keep up with current demand for the iPad 2 - how can they possibly switch to a new HD panel? I think they'll do it, but not this year.

They can barely keep up with demand at present, how are they going to manufacture more?

Exactly how does Apple screw you by releasing a newer version of a product? The newer version in no way makes yours stop working, or work any worse (or better) than when you bought it, isn't it? You still have the same iPad you bought, there's just a newer one available. that's all.

Oh wait, I get it. They screw you because now you don't have the newest/latest/greatest! And this is Apple's fault how?

If nothing else, this thread has made me grin just a little bit.

Here's the news, new Apple owners... Apple have a release cycle for each one of their products. Always have, always will. Google is your friend but if you don't feel like searching yourself, here's a link to the MacRumors "Buyer's Guide". http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/
Basically, the products due for updates include the iPhone (actually well past due), MacBook, Mac Mini, iPod Classic, Nano & Shuffle, Mac Pro, Apple Cinema Display and MacBook Air. The iPad is mid cycle so four to six months to go before a new one is out in the States, and even then... what OomD said... There's nothing wrong with the one you have now... nothing at all.
Also, just in case you get all caught up in the rumor mill regarding what each product will or won't feature... 'Till Steve Jobs, Phil Schiller, Tim Cook or someone else from Apple actually introduces it, you'll never really, really know what it'll look like and what the features will be... ever.
Sometimes you'll be delighted with the updates and sometimes you'll be a little disappointed, but even if you are, it'll be okay 'cos lo and behold, a year or so later there'll be another update.
Your current Apple product will still get software updates even when the new one is out (well, until it's four or five generations old anyway) so you won't really be missing out all that much anyway... Take a deep breath, go woosah... Put that panic in our little "boundary box" 'cos we gonna close this box and we gonna throw this b***h in the ocean, and the only way that you can get to this box is you gotta be m**********n' Jacques Cousteau. ;)

The question is always what is your intention in buying a product. Some people want to have the best while others buy as it fulfill a certain need. The argument tends to happen when the intentions of two people differ

The iPad 2 will still be around for another 3 years. Apple tend to support products for 3 years. This include OS updates.

A high res iPad will happen. But it is too early

oh they will be launching some new products real soon. i will be getting an iPhone 5, as i believe they gonna come unlocked. and if i'm lucky will sell my iPad 2 for the refresh, or entirely new model
