If you got some spare time and you would like to play around with Android 4.4 (rooted) on your PC, check out this video below, download the ISO and threw it in VBox...

I have been testing it out running applications from the play store and browsing the net quite easily.
Pretty cool actually.

Hope you guys enjoy :D!

Why not just use genymotion or andyroid, far easier and you can use geny to run any version and device configuration you want.

Where would one get this Android KitKat iso image to download?
Also, are most apps (especially games) compatible, or is it only a small selection of apps that are compatible?

I used Bluestacks 4 years ago but most of the good apps was not compatible back then. Not sure what is possible nowadays.

Gennymotion downloads them as needed, it is based of Oracle Virtual Machine, so once its downloaded it actually creates the machine in Oracle, from there you can create your own image and really do not even need genny to run the android.

Android emulator, so far the best I have found as unlike the others which come with a single version and configuration, with genymotion you can emulate the android how you want, using kitkat, jellybean, gingerbread, with their subversions. You can choose weather its phone or tablet, what resolution you want, pixel density, cpu, the works.

Where do I download the generic KitKat iso image?
I am interested in loading and booting android from a USB stick which I see can be done. There are some points on this on the Android-X86 website, but its not exactly user friendly for noobs like me.

I believe so. Android X-86 is a different group that strives to run android on PC (x86) compatible devices. They have many android iso's available on their website and they work on a different range of pc processors.

The only problem is that isnt detailed instructions for newbies that's not used to tinkering with these things. They give some installation instructions but not detailed enough in my opinion.
