I have a Mercedes that has “MOE” runflat tyres.

What are the consequences to warranty and maintenance plan of using non-MOE runflats like Bmw or Audi approved as there is a significant price difference

Your warranty will be voided. I know it as the "Star" rating. BMW told me that it needs the star on the tyre for you to retain warranty.

Bmw allows replace it with normal tyres, but you loose your motorplan if you in accident.

I changed all 4 my bosses BMW X3 run flats last year, cost a cool R20k

Not sure about motor plan but I'm sure insurance companies will investigate further if you in an accident

BMW voids warranty and motorplan if you don't fit OEM tires. Which sucks, because run flats are pretty meh, nevermind expensive. 5k for a front tire, 6k for a rear on my car.

They do that whether you have run flats or not to ensure the tyre you have on the car is within legal limits and correctly spec'd for the car in terms of size, speed rating, etc.

I have never heard of this happening to anyone by any manufacturer as long as you are fitting the correct size and specification.

Please provide proof of this. I'm fascinated.
