My mom managed it pretty easily. :)

No, there are no mac viruses in the wild (afaik) however some people might suggest its important to protect windows users from themselves.

Mac hardware can and does run windows as well as any PC. In addition to running windows natively you can run it virtualised form within OsX

Network the two together and copy across. No problemo. ;)

To be fair there's probably something to the software that comes with it to help the poor windows user who might need some serious hand helping. Lets face it - the smartest thing they've probably ever done is decide to switch. ;) :D

actually now that I read the spec I found this:
"Migration Assistant moves files and settings from default PC folders and applications to default Mac folders and applications, then gives summary of transferred content"

So, If you anything lying outside of the default folders you're probably screwed.

And it looks like belkin did a serious upgrade to universal binary, you can now transfer apps too :D

1. Easy. You can setup the mouse for example to allow for the Right Click
menu. The Mighty Mouse allows for Left and Right clicking.

2. No, not at present. There is a free AV progam called Avast. There are
also commercial programs. Most Windows based progams are capable of scanning downloaded .DMG Apple application packages too, so if you
keep your PC and scan stuff on it, you can exclude Mac viruses that way too.

3. Mac can run Windows natively via Bootcamp. You have a seperate Win
install on a seperate partition. You boot into that partition and it works.
Last year the fastest Vista laptop was the Mac Book pro according
to PC World.
You can also run Windows concurrently. Using VMWare Fusion or Parallels,
you can run Windows OFF the Bootcamp partition or you can make a seperate
Windows install via these two programs. They retail for about R600-800 each.
There is also a free Opensource alternative to these virtualisation programs.
Windows runs pretty fast that way too, although only a few 3D games
work this way. If you run via Bootcamp, you run Win without any limitations,
incl 3D games like Crysis.

hmmm, i get the feeling this was aimed at me to stop another virus debate?? well played :)

... i saw the topic and thought "oh dear here we go again...." that wiki idea is starting to look better and better.

The new macbooks have nvidia graphics so you can game decently on it when using bootcamp.

Not all Nvidia graphics are created equal. I think the MBs use lower end
GPUs which don't give much performance boost over Intel X3100.

Good choice on making the swap.Everything has been answered above. Haven't met anyone who has started using Apple and has hated it. It's a step above. Oh one thing, regarding how easy is it to change to mac..while it will take, 1 day to get a good grip of the OS, 2 to figure out small things like system preferences, 3 to start feeling it is superior, 4 to never want to work on windows again. :D

Tell me more about boot camp plz....my wifes out at the moment and her iMac is sitting on the table calling out to be dual booted and have games installed on it. Its an oldish iMac, core 2 duo but the 3GB mem max one i think and running OSX. let me know if you need more details. Do I have to download bootcamp or does it come wif da mac. If not how much etc. I can read if someone has a link and I guess I could jfgi it but am lazy right now..tell me :)

If it's on Leopard just:

Go > Utilities > Bootcamp Assist and follow instructions.

If u are running leopard its pretty straight forward, follow on screen prompt, pray no power failure occurs whilst partitioning...

if you are on tiger....u can download the bootcamp beta version and try it, although i would not recommend this. I have had some dodgy experiences with this in the past.
Upgrade to leopard, u know u want to...
