Running Crysis on my machine.

My rig is the one in my signature. And I am running 1280*1024, 2xAA with medium settings with no lag, but when I change to 4xAA, visible lagging in game.

One of my friend has a PC with hardwares one generation older (AMD 4200 x2, 7900GT and 2G Ram) claims he can run Crysis with 1680*1050 at 4AA and high resolution WITH NO LAG. What is he smoking?

"lag" is relative.

Run Benchies, and see max, min, and avg frames, compare.

It may be that your 256mb VRam may be somewhat restrictive.

So i spoke to GOD, he said his pc cant even run Crysis without lag.

Think the 256mb ram on your 8800GT could be the problem, does your freinds 7900GT have 512Mb of RAM?

I though 256Mb ram on graphics only impact game performance in higher resolution eg. 1680*1050?

IMO your system in general is better than his

maybe your friend can only process 20fps where as us normal being can process 25-30 fps.

you probably find he's disabled some features and if you running vista, your system will be running the dx10 features which are more graphically demanding then the dx9 that his card is running, but you will find that even at the lower res, your graphics will look much better then his.

not possible even if he's running lowest settings in dx9 mode.
1680x1050 4xAA Maximum detail (DX10) isn't possible on 9800GX2.

I ran the GPU benchmark for Crysis on my machine, 1280*1024 2xAA and Medium setting overall, around 33fps average. XP system forgot to mention.
