Good day! I am looking for advise on road running shoes: I have a wide, flat foot and I pronate when I run. Recommendations welcome, thank you!

Have you tried the Nike Pegasus range?
I have the Pegasus 38 and they are super comfy for both regular and wide feet.

NewBalance 1080 but if you wide footed ask for a 4E over a 2E
Brookes GTS 23 and again 4E if you very wide footed.

4E isn't that common here but if your foot goes over the sole on the side you going to hate running with the pain along the side of your foot. But you will need to get your feet properly measured, many wide footed people go too big on the size to fit in the wideness but then your foot in in the wrong place in the shoe length wise

if you JHB sweatshop in Dunkald a good place to start.

Go to a sportsman warehouse or a poobie naidoos and get on their treadmill and test your running style.
Are Sportsman's warehouse staff trained when it comes to running shoes? I've been tested before when I still lived in Gauteng, which is why I know I pronate.

Thank you. Do you also pronate?

I had similar but went to a podiatrist he also created new soles for the running shoes for me. And normal shoes. I’m only slightly pronated but my bigger problem is I have flat feet - almost zero arch. Hoka proved super comfy but did not last long.

No Idea about sportsmans, I just know poobies are good. But if you've been tested before and you're happy, then you're good to go!

Depends where you are based, go to one of the following shops both have running experts who will analyse your running style and recommend shoes, they also have generally good service so if shoes don't work after a week or two you cna return / swap them out.

In Johannesburg try the sweat shop (Dunkeld West)
In Pretoria try Run-A-Way Sport

+1 for Randburg runner. The only thing I dont like about them is you run up and down the parking lot to test the various shoes and people looked at me funny because I basically ran up to the adult shop, turned around and ran away multiple times

Some Sportmans are decent. The one in Boksburg, for example, has a mat that you walk on that basically shows you how pressure is distributed by the shoe, quite interesting really.

The New Balance factory stores are great if you need an extra wide shoe, like me. I got a great deal on my current pair of running shoes.

Yes. I find the Pegasus does really well to compensate this and it has a Zoom Air cushion which you can actually feel with each step/stride.

You would need something with a wider toe box ie. the Adidas adizero SL. Adidas recently launced the Adizero SL2. The previous model can be bought at a discount on Bash or Cape union mart. Alternatively the shoe that I hate but use the most for daily runs of 14km or more is the the Adidas solarglide. It has a tepl plate for stability which should help with your pronation issue. Adidas also sell in half sizes ie 11.5 etc. I get approx 600- 700km's on the Adizero sl which is about 6 -7 weeks of use if I rotate them.

Just to add, I over pronate with flat feet and have the Pegasus 40: they're comfy, however, I don't find they offer as much arch support as my much older Nike's which were Zoom Winflo 4's (they were amazing). But I do have narrow feet and it seems the Pegasus are slightly wider, so maybe I'm just not getting the right support because of that.

sometimes pronation is caused by roads as they are mostly curved. I doubt you pronate with both feet. Switch to off-road running. you will find that you will most likely pronate less.

Then your best option, as other members suggested, would be to go into one of the stores that can do an actual running test and recommend something based on the results.
