Rust.

  • I think Rust has a lot more potential, growth and feature wise.
  • Rust engine seems a lot better than the Arma engine... and as Rust is still only in Alpha, that says a lot.
  • It's cheaper, too.



This game is hard though...

You have primitive homosapiens on one side of the valley fighting wolves with only their bare hands and a rock, surviving off of boars. they have nothing. they are alone at night with a small shack and a campfire, maybe a sleeping bag. life is hard, but some of them will gather enough wood and resources to make it. They live a primal life, surviving on scraps and scared.
Then you have the bandits, who live a risky but rewarding life, holding up other mid-class survivors. There are usually more than one, and sometimes they even target the poor, and occasionally hijacking them of everything, including their basic tools and weapons. Living without even a rock to defend yourself is hard.
There are also the lone assassins, the thieves... they come at night. they break into your home and steal your stuff... all that wood you chopped? All gone.

Sometimes you will find yourself alone at your home, and hear voices around your house. surrounding you. checking if anyone is home. checking if there is a "hole" in your house plans. there is always a hole.
And if there isn't, they will make one.

I've been robbed every night so far. the more I gather and the bigger I build my base, they more people want in. they want that loot, only to take it home, and get looted themselves.

Some gangs aren't too bad though... 3 guys who wanted to break in made a deal with me, I give them all my wood unarmed and they wouldn't blow up any more doors to get in further.
I bluffed, I only gave them half. They bluffed, they didn't have any more C4. when I got outside naked and scared, I talked to them and sorta joined their gang for the night.

After a lone wolf thief broke into my base and stole almost everything, I walled myself up somewhere and now live in a 3x1 apartment sealed from the known outside world. No doors only walls. I live like those jews in Germany did.

It's a hard life, but that is Rust for you.

955mb and consumes literally no bandwidth at all when playing. I run my SABnzbd downloads at full throttle and there are no problems.


I'm gonna add you on Steam Pitbull, maybe we can band together? We will be stronger in numbers.
I'm trying to get all the lonewolf survivors together so we can build sort of a town or something, and work together to keep bandits and thieves out.

If there are many of us working together we can quickly get enough wood to build spike walls around our perimeter.
If anyone catches a thief among us he will be kicked out of the town to fend for himself between the other thieves and gangs.

This will start when the server is reset.

*Anyone can PM me if they are sick of the bandits and interested in joining our town.
 
Is the Rust community bigger than DayZ in SA?

How many players are usually on this server?

I'm in two minds now. Don't know if I should get DayZ or Rust... Watched videos on both through youtube last night and they seem very similar. Love the idea behind the games, now just to try and decide which one to play :o
 
So I played a bit yesterday. To my total amazement, the server is populated by gutless bandits that shoots fresh spawns on sight. I encountered two friendly guys who killed a wolf that was chasing me but that was where the friendliness stopped.

I'm all for killing people and raiding bases, but killing fresh spawns when you have full kevlar and M4s? Gutless bandits.
 
What's going on?
My game updated but I can't find the server.. I typed the IP manually but it doesn't connect either.

WTF? :confused:

Morning all we are still waiting for Multiplay to update our server, it's been locked since last night i can't start it or update it myself, i've logged a ticket and also waiting for a reply.. unfortunately their is not much i can do but wait for Multiplay.

Server is back online! But please note multiplay still experience memory leaks with the latest update from Rust and waiting for a hotfix, so the server might disconnect often untill this is resolved.

But for now you can play :) but just be aware of the DC problems that might happen.
 
Evening all, i have now done a complete re-install for the Rust server and everything is now by default with no extra addons, so lets see how it goes now, so please help us stress test the PlayRust server currently please.

We had lots of latency and lag issues and i think it might have been a addon, so lets just make sure.

Ok so it's completely vanilla now... do we get a starter kit? Day/night timings?

Also is there a way to stop the top 10 kills results? That crap has got to go. Frikkie openly told me he doesn't care for anything I have, just that he wants to kill us to get on the top 10. WTF this isn't QIII Deathmatch?

But if you're reading this frikkie, thanks for the wood planks you gave me it really helped me out.
