I hope this is sorted by tomorrowI have the day off and want to spen dit playing RUST.
Hey, Shirou.
Is there a way to provide a timeout on the sleeper function?
I mean: I'm totally fine with someone coming in a completely wrecking our base and looting all our chests but I'm not really okay with having to play the game 24/7 to ensure that nobody murders me while I'm logged off.
It is creating a bit of a situation where there is no persistence within the game...every day you need to start over because your base which is hanging off of the cliff over the coast in the middle of nowhere which is hard to reach even when you KNOW how to get there, has been looted and you've been murdered.
There is nothing you can do to stop the *******s with tons of C4 from wrecking your base regardless of how well you've reinforced it.
The more you reinforce it, the more they're likely to think there is great loot inside and then are more incentivised to get in...and then they kill you while you're logged off and take everything you have on you and you spawn in some random location.
It would make sense if there were a sleeper timer of 5 minutes so that fight-loggers can't just bail in the middle of a fight to avoid dying but then if you're logging off at night, people only have 5 minutes to get in and murder you.
Is this even a possible feature?
It's something several people have asked about, and it would be great to have, but unfortunately there is no such option yet, and hoping someone release a addon for this.
I don't agree. Had a situation yesterday: We got raided, one of the raiders logged out and then there was a server reset (He can't be seen where he logged out). Later in the evening he logged back in and was in the house they raided (Where he logged out). He raided the house again and as soon as the owner opened the door was promptly killed. This would have been avoided if there was no server reset and he's body could be seen.
Not really sure what you mean.. or why you don't agree on something thats not even implemented yet?
You where saying that you hope someone adds a mod for it. What happened there clearly shows why it's not a good idea. Someone raids you and logges out in your house, their body can't be seen if this is implemented. They log in again and they are in your house waiting for you to open the door fully armed...
What i ment was, a mod that allows us to set a time when the body should dissepear.. for example 15min then the body will not show ingame, this will secure us as well from people who might just battle log in a fight.
After all that hard work... Know it's not your fault, however contemplating if it's still a viable option playing on this server then. We did put in a hell of allot of work into it. By the looks of it the server can't handle the traffic combined with the structures being built. Sad thing to have to read this morning.
I'm afraid to say that, without significant pricing restructure, we are simply not in a position to increase the memory allocation for this game. Rust is currently the most resource-intensive game we have on offer, beating the likes of DayZ and Battlefield 4 by significant margins, yet the pricing is still relatively low by comparison. We would need to increase the price somewhat in order to offer more memory allocation, and we are trying to avoid raising costs at this point, as we're fairly sure that a price hike would be much less in favour by the customer base than any other action.
This was multiplay's response to when i asked to increase my Rust servers memory:
My understanding of servers are very limited. Are you renting a server from Facepunch or are you running your own server? How does the memory allocation affect the server if it's your own server?
As I said, limited knowledge for all I know this is prob a retarded question![]()
Most game servers these days are hosted by 3rd party vendors. There is two reasons for this.
1. Most new games require a specific licence to run a multiplayer server and mostly only companies like Multiplay and GameServers.com get these licences.
2. In order to host a server you need very good upload speed and since that is very expensive in SA us individuals find it non profitable to run a game server from home.
