Rye bread rocks. Especially for toasted sandwiches - more accurately rye bread, then tomatoe, the cheese on to & stick it in an oven at 180C. Add salt & pepper. Cheese/tomatoe makes it delicious & rye adds a wholesome feels to the taste.
For those not baking DIY, check out "black forest" branded rye bread from Spar. Its near pitch black so takes some getting used to but works well for the above. Better talk to Spar staff though...they don't receive a lot & its gone wicked fast so timing is everything. Might also be regional...dunno.
500gr rye flour
500gr brown bread flour
700gr milk/water warm
a sachet instant yeast
20 gr salt
tablespoon brown sugar
tablespoon of molasses
mix all, knead
place in your car to rise for hour
knock back, (knead again - short)
let is rise for another hour, on the baking sheet
then pop in oven
190c 35 - 40 minutes
