Ryk robbed - again

Ryk Neethlings quote on the Homecoming Revolution Website, "I made the decision after the 2004 Olympic games to come back to South Africa and have loved it. The only regret is not returning earlier."

Johannesburg - Crime has come knocking - literally - at swimming ace Ryk Neethling's door.

But a spur-of-the-moment decision to travel to Bloemfontein to watch the Currie Cup semi-final, probably saved him from coming face-to-face with the burglars at his home in Lynnwood, Pretoria.

Police spokesperson Lucas Sithole said the burglars had kicked down a door to gain access to the house at about 13:00 on Sunday.

Beeld was told that Neethling hadn't had any plans to go to Bloemfontein for the match between the Bulls and the Cheetahs.

But on Saturday morning, he and his housemate, Neil Cloete, had decided on the spur of the moment to drive there after all.

A person close to the family said it was a "blessing" that they were not there when the burglars struck, because their lives could have been in danger.

Apparently a TV set, a DVD player and a laptop were taken.

Sithole said the police were still waiting for Neethling to confirm what had been stolen.

"It's not clear how many people were involved," Sithole said.

No-one had been arrested yet, he added.

It's the third time Neethling has been robbed. In June last year he was "relieved" of 40 medals - two of which were later replaced.

just grabbed this from my other post

so he has only been robbed 3 times, what's the big deal?
I get robbed between 3 - 5 times a year, so what, not like any one gives a damn, claim insurance, pay higher premiums and wait until next one.

Yea, but the point of the matter is Ryk is one of the guys that the homecomingrevolution uses on its banners on its site to brag about how good things are in South Africa, the homecomingrevolution is holding a huge even in London soon to convince people to return to SA, he has been robbed 3 times since returning to SA!

I bet Ryk is seriously thinking about packing his bags again.

But Ryk is one of the Spokespersons for the Homecoming Revolution project.
I really find your "not like anyone gives a damn" disturbing... is THIS what the New South Africa is about?

Could be wrong, but does he not live in a complex type place? Are there no neighbors that heard a door being broken down?

In a way its really funny, so funny its ridiculous. They trying to lure people to come back to SA with their lies and prosperity about SA, but back at the ranch, the spokesperson has been robbed three times since getting back to SA, and his mom has been bashed around too.

No, you missing my point, the fact that he is a spokesman for the HCR, trying to lure expats back to SA, thats funny. But the fact of the matter is, he is no different from other south africans, he has also been affected badly by the crime. Lets just hope the HCR stops this nonsense soon.
