S3 - Stock Availability ?

I'm counting down the day till my upgrade ... 9 days left.

I've decided on my phone and I'm itching to ditch this BB. Sweaty palms and I'm battling to sleep ;)

My question is - is there an issue with stock of the S3? I know for the first few months of a phone (especially Apple) there are waiting lists and people wait months for them. Is it possible I will experience this on the 15 August?

EDIT : Also seems quite expensive on Vodacom ... pay in seems high :/

No issues I've heard of. Samsung isn't one to pull that "artificial scarcity" bull****.

Yes, it's pretty expensive but the same as high-end Android phones have been for the past few years anyways. Vodacom is significantly cheaper than the others I've seen, I think it's over R8k on Cell C with their rambly-jambly contract nonsense.

There are so many unwanted upgrades available at the moment.
I picked one up yesterday for R5k on the dot. Phone is brand new still.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that no wait either. Emailed the dude late Sat night. He responded Sun AM at 8. At 10 we met at Eastgate and concluded the transaction.
 
That's weird I've been battling to find stock. Been to about 4 or 5 different MTN stores east rand side. They didnt have stock of blue or white.
 
WooHoo just got a Blue SIII from MTN eastgate, so stoked. Now to learn how to use it!

If you are paying in for the phone, and on a contract that is R200 a month or so, then you are being ripped off. Use Cell-Cs "build your own contract" to see what it should cost. MTN have similar contracts as Cell-C (with the money value thing) and you really should not be paying in to get the phone.

So simply put, if you pay R300-R400 a month and don't get this phone FREE (as in no pay in), Vodacom is ripping you off.

On Cell C you are still paying in for the phone. Straight Up 800 you are paying R1133.00 per month for 24 months. Base cost for the Straight Up 800 is R800.00 if I am not mistaken. If you look @ the financed deals on Vodacom you will find similar packages where you dont pay the once off payment...but it gets split over 24 months. Many people think the phone comes free..but they are mistaken.

I know, but seemingly if you upgrade at Vodacom , they will make you pay-in AND still make you pay the rest over the contract AND pay the same as a "New" contract which don't have a pay-in fee.

A friend of mine wants to upgrade, and they're not allowing him to take the deal advertised on the Vodacom website and instead making him pay-in , yet still paying the same monthly fee.

So he is forced to cancel his contract and go somewhere else, which is pretty pathetic service.

MTN at least allows you to upgrade using the exact same deals advertised in the brosures...no nonsense about "must be new contract" .

So beware, upgrading at Vodacom seems to be ripoff if you don't do it right.

Might be that it is a online exclusive deal and could also be that on his package there is no financed deal...but I cant comment further without having details.

Well to put it simple: Across Cell-C, MTN and Vodacom, you can get the S3 on their Anytime 200 / Business Call / Chat 200 contracts (all about R200 a month contracts) for R350-R400 a month without paying in. So that's the benchmark, if you are upgrading and not getting a similar value for money, it's a rip off .

Also between those 3 contract types, Vodacom's Business Call gives you diddly squat, just lower tariffs, where MTN/Cell-C gives you that R200 as airtime (albeit with higher tariffs). So you have to do careful calculations there.

I prefer the MTN/Cell-C contracts, as it implies you can get away each month without paying extra (kinda like buying prepaid) . On Vodacom (Business Call) you will pay extra from the first minute, you are basically guaranteed to pay MORE than the contract value per month always. Anyway, it's a bit off topic, but Vodacom seems to be the only one still having this convoluted contracts, where it's quite tricky to see exactly what you are getting.

Either way, i think the R400 a month is most likely not even a "special" anymore, it's the standard pricing for a R200 contract + S3 .

I was at Centurion Mall Vodacom Shop and they had white and blue in stock :O So ya, no stock problems.
 
I wanted to buy mine online here.

But they only have white, would the price be the same if I went into a store and got the blue one?

Found quite a lot on OLX.
Do a cash deal gave to face. Test the device. Check it out. Conclude transaction.

I am on my S3 constantly. Love it. And even more so because I paid R5k on the dot for a 32GB in perfect condition :D
