S5 blood pressure app

I got a blood pressure app on the S5. But I can't quite fathom that it can be accurate. I don't know much about the hardware on the phone, but the last time I was in hospital (3y ago or so) in high care the machine would pump up the thing around my arm every 30m or so and do my blood pressure. So I can't see how a phone can measure blood pressure based on one finger on the display and one finger on the "health" sensor thingy, if the hospital's high care ward doesn't have it.

Though I think the readings are generally a bit high, I can't really verify without tools. Anybody with the insight into both medicine and the tech in the S5 to know if it's total croc?

DANGEROUS The cretins who put this app on the market should be ashamed, they are risking countless lives with this, I cannot believe they don't know it too. Hopefully they face the MASSIVE legal consequences of distributing fake medical advice for profit, I hope they will be begging for food, hopefully there won't be kids of those this trash kills. Just think how a BP device measures your BP and then think... how will the S5 do it?

Same for heart rate... it must physically make contact with you and then you must logically think how will it measure it.

I will rather have the schlepp of using a proper BP machine to test my BP than trying some dodgy app...

Heart rate it actually does (S5 feature). The technology is in hospitals. It's pretty accurate. You hold your finger against the flash (and there is another small device in the same crevice) so you are actually touching the phone for the heartrate.
