S5 vs iPhone 6 plus

We have two sides, each defending their stance without getting 'aggresive/blood boiling/nasty'

Well yea except you did kind of go off on a rant there about how much you hated Apple fans

We were talking about user experience and apple making more choices FOR the consumer than Google (pro consumer).
Tricksy hobbitses! Android isn't pro-consumer, it's pro-manufacturer.

Android for hardware makers like Samsung/Sony is like manna from heaven, gift wrapped and bowtied. It's a full-fat, highly featured mobile operating system that's distributed for free (and btw to correct a misconception of yours, Android doesn't have a licensing cost; it's free to use. Google makes money off advertising revenues).

It also allows them to bundle their own modifications and software, and alter the Android experience as much as they want. And of course, they need to sell-through to carriers who also want to add their software, which is fine because it's Android. And all those parties - Google, manufacturer, carrier - have misaligned goals and profit centers.

What's pro-consumer is not allowing carriers to make any changes to the phone software, and never compromising on that stance. You know, kickback. The kind of thing lobbying groups do; and Apple.

Do you ever get the feeling you've been lured out into the woods and then clobbered to death?

The only winners here are Google and the consumer. Defnitely not Samsung and Sony (who you would know are running massive losses on the smartphone business).

Samsung aren't making losses. They're making huge profits. Everyone else is treading water or losing money. But Samsung and some other OEMs are making money, don't be under any illusions that they're in it for charity.

A big advantage of a Android phone is the micro SD card slot.It is a bigger advantage than you might think. If I were to buy a new Android today I will just remove my SD card from my old phone and pop it in my new one.Two years from now it will probably stil work just fine and I will just pop it in the next phone. If I want expanded storage for a iPhone I have to spend a $100(with all the taxes mabe R1800) every time I buy a phone.Even if in a few years you decide that you want a bigger SD card you can still use the SD card in your backup phone or give it to a family member.

The only thing worth transferring from one phone to another is contacts. Why on earth you'd want to move years worth of crap from one phone to another beats me. I fail to understand this new era of digital hoarders.

What a silly comment. Don't you transfer music to your new device or do you start your music collection from scratch every time you change devices?

Getting my Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE G900FD Dual sim tomorrow :D

Best phone in the market, I can't live without dual sim.

Only has 16GB ROM, but I will pump it up with a 64GB MicroSDXC.

IMHO no other phone in the market can compete with that.

First frontline phone with dual sim (excluding the Chinese phones like ZTE Nubia Z7 Max).

My music collection is on my Mac, what's the point of moving around with 10 -20 GB's of music on a phone when in reality you will probably only listen to less than 100 songs ?

As for pictures some of us use digital SLR cameras.

Contacts? Mine is kept in my Google account. Who still keeps contacts on a phone. That's silly.
