S60 5th Edition Review (more 5800 stuff)

For all those (me included) that are drooling over the soon to here Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, here is a review that covers more of the new S60 UI : http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-s60-5th-edition-en.shtml

While rumours of this phone surfaced at the start of the year Nokia took the better part of their development time to focus on the UI (a lesson learned from the iPhone).

I am pretty impressed with what I see and perhaps some of those that came to hate the old sluggish S60 UIs of yesteryear should give this new baby a second look.

and this is just the begining.. i believe nokia will expand greatly on S60 5th edition.. we already know that symbian is out and out the best mobile OS out there, but i believe it will only get better..

I just hope that the developers fix their apps for touch screen based phones. Seeing as many of them made the jump to 3rd edition (with security signing) quite smoothly I hope they are up for the jump to 5th edition.

Just imagine Garmin running on one of those babies !

Another thing that will be quite nice is if Opera releases Mobile 9.5 for this phone, according to the review the browser in S60 5th is below par when compared with the iPhones browser. This could be because the 5800 is not running dual CPUs but I personally think (knowing Nokias history) that they skimped effort on the browser in 5th edition...
