SA’s ultimate gaming PC

/Wipes drool/ sadly the if I could choose right now I would have to go for the polo how sad is that!

Uhm, I feel that is a bit overkill. Yes, it is better than my rig, but, still overkill.

will be interested to see what a similar rig will cost in 24 months

I'd be interested to see some kind of benchmarks. Easy to whack a bunch of parts together, but for all we know it runs like a R20k system.
What game is going to use 64Gb RAM?

Are the Western Digitals (where your gaming files would be stored) in RAID configuration?
How well does it run ARMA 3?

Pretty aggressive, better than mine for sure. The differences though are what makes that insane price.

Very true

exactly ..

When I built my pc I had people calling it overkill and I didn't really get why ( I still don't ) but I can agree that this is a bit over the top. 104 k ? Madness

for all we know it runs like a R20k system.

Although it goes without saying that it must run like a dream :)

Nice.

No current game will use 64GB of ram, however, the OS will now have loads and loads for file caching (which makes a big difference to loading times, once files are cached of course). That's about all benefit you'll get.

I expected much more, there are guys around SA running even higher spec machines (several on Carbonite). This is nowhere near the ultimate PC in SA.

I think they could have squeezed in more performance rather than going for the most expensive parts in some cases.
A top end revodrive for instance, also a custom water loop rather than an off the shelf closed loop solution.

In my personal experience: the guys who always try to have the top end PC, or guys who always try to overclock their PC - these guys aren't' even gamers. It's mostly about installing "game of the month" to run a few benchies and then it's uninstall time. Most actual gamers have entry level to modest systems.

Good luck getting games that support 3x SLi

I ran dual 6670's before and some games actually had worse framerates because of the SLi

Maybe newer GPU's are different tho

I probably have one of the highest spec'd machines here but I'm most certainly a gamer. I also personally know at least three people with PCs that will run circles around mine, and they're also gamers.
