SA bandwidth pricing buffoonery

Does this only hit home now?

There are no excuses to be charging such high local connectivity price, starting with ludicrous rental of ADSL that doesn't even buy a single byte of data transfer locally or internationally.

This just proves what a bunch of crooks telskum are. And government well you own 38% of that scum that makes you just as guilty.

isn't most of the JHB to CT running on Microwave radio links? Though we do have a couple of Oxygen thieves in this country...

the only oxygen thieves here are the useless government people and telkom

If everything in this article is 100% accurate and can be backed up with hard facts, it would do far more good to try and get it published in one or more of the big Sunday papers. The average man on the street will not be checking the news page on myadsl every day and these are the guys who need to know about this sort of thing and to learn how Telkom currently has the country over a barrel. Does anyone have any contacts who might be in a position to, and who might have an interest in, getting this info out to the masses?

The statement from CUASA has been issued to 101 journalists and media titles. You read is first here because site admin seem to be very quick off the mark in terms of getting this kind of thing live ;)

I suspect this will appear on ITWeb today and hopefully it will also have an impact at traditional print titles this week and on Sunday.

SAVA's Paulo Froes was interviewed about this matter on Summit TV yesterday and a voice-over made it to Summit TV news last night. We are also expecting additional coverage about this matter on Summit later this week. I'll see if I can get footage of this coverage live on the CUASA (or this server??) for those who are interested or don't have DSTV.

If you guys are interested I'll post media links to this story as I find them.
