SA Coffee roasters

I spent a lot of time in South East Asia over the past year where there's an abundance of coffee roasters, often you can get beans that was roasted almost on the same day, as fresh as can be.

I have found it not as easy here in SA - or maybe I just don't have a clue where to look.

Anyone have good coffee roasters in your area?
Maybe share some links & maps so we know what's around.
 
Probably the best [known] roaster in PE is Mastertons. Freshly roasted beans daily.
 
I understand that coffee beans need a week or so after roasting to be at their best.
Like resting a grilled/braaied steak... :p

Sniff before you make it (Coffee, Espresso, Cappuccino.......)

I love coffee and the smell of coffee , especially freshly ground coffee. But I realised whenever I open a packet of coffee or even a bottle of Douw Egberts (end of the month coffee) I take a nice deep sniff from the packet or bottle before I make it. Am I the only one? Oh, can you also...

They don't seem to roast coffee here anymore since they went commercial. Probably in the Cape, think Franschhoek. Won't be surprise if they also have a factory somewhere.

I'm using https://notbadcoffee.co.za/ for a sub service that sends you beans\grounds from some of the best roasters in SA.
All of these places have the roasting date on the package.

Specialty Coffee expo is at Fourways Mall this weekend again. I was there last year and realized we have alot of coffee roasters around me I was not aware of.

Also, a great place to buy coffee beans from roasters you would normally not have the opportunity. From other provinces etc.
