SA faces another 'Eskom'

I shiver, when I think what the consequences could be if Koeberg Nuclear Power station is held to the same lax maintenance standards.
remember the russian bolt incident ?

It is logical that the quality of water piped to homes or for general consumption will degrade or possibly become contaminated due to incorrect or insufficient maintenance control or standards.

First world standards are no longer the norm in South Africa, and those of us who understand the danger and the implications should make extra effort to become more responsible for our own health and welfare and I suppose that would mean, augmenting our energy and water supplies, through alternative means or through the clever use of technology. ( in the case of energy: solar and in the case of water : chemical/filter/boiling )

Boiling tap water is the first line of defense.

Positive signs for FIFA 2010

GrahamTek have been awarded the R16 million to supply the Sedgefield de-salination plant
produces 1 million+ L/day

I'd be worried about seweage more than water supply.

Who is going to build these projects? Who will maintain new and existing infrastructure. The previous people were told to f off. SA is losing people at the rate of (more-or-less) 100,000 per year. And those are the skilled ones. Blacks are matriculating with exemption in maths and science at a rate of 2,000 per year.

Join the dots.

Sewerage is about to become very valuable...

With the range of gas appliances and the new low cost methane fuel cells, the way biogas is viewed, is soon to change.

The timing is perfect.

Typical South Africa. Do all the maintenance in one go when everything's about to fall to pieces:rolleyes:

How hard is it to replace/fix things when they're 20-40% broken, instead of waiting until everything is hanging on by a thread:mad:

What really p!ss me off is that they have know about this for years. They have known this at least as long as we have known Eskom had problems, and we had load shedding, now they are saying it again and again it will be ignored until something terrible happens and then they will blame it on Apartheid or something stupid.:mad:

You have a leak...

No, he’s right. You are the lucky recipient of an ‘error in your favour’. It never happens like this – have you noticed that errors are never in your favour?

You don’t get credited with a R1 000000 in your bank account due to an administrative error. You lose R50 000 from your account and battle to get it back.
