Minister Lindiwe Sisulu will officiate a signing ceremony of the RSA-Cuba Water Resource Management Agreement this morning at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand.

She will be joined by Cuban Ambassador to South African, His Excellency, Rodolfo Benitez Verson.

The Agreement will see the placement of 26 Cuban engineers who will be deployment in various parts of the country to provide support on infrastructure maintenance and operation skills throughout the water value chain.

The RSA-Cuba Agreement has been in place since 2013. It has previously seen the deployment of 35 Cuban engineers in line with their respective competitive expertise and strengths.
The engineers have provided training and capacity building to South African Graduate Trainees and Artisans within the Department of Water and Sanitation.

This is a ****ing disgrace. We have the skills and the people in SA, yet we have to import engineers from Cuba?

What the hell is with our love affair with that shiithole?

The 30% pass mark.

"Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) is appalled and shocked by the actions of the Water and Sanitation Department who are importing 35 Cuban engineers, seconded to South Africa for a two-year term to share their expertise with their counterparts in the South African water sector. "

"CESA President Abe Thela warns that this practice is a worrying trend since Cuban engineering skills are not recognized by the Engineering Council of South Africa because they are not part of the Washington Accord that governs international engineering qualifications. "

I was just wondering the same thing. Didn't Zuma go to a Cuban military hospital recently?

I'm sure there are plenty of skilled engineers in South Africa?
