SA mobile prices sinking too low?

I'd say the same if i enjoyed good returns and with fast policy changes the situation diminishes the awesomeness to what I get elsewhere ;-) I suspect the bribe taking ability of the new telecom ministers will be put the test quite soon. Expect many delays, talk shops and a report in 12 months time of lavish lifestyles which don't add up ;-)

I mean the last few did more in 2 yrs total than all others in over a decade and three quarters?

I think he is missing the actual problem - MTN and Vodacom have deep pockets with which to try to compel CellC out of the market. MTN has largely embarked on an exercise to utilize a semi-price war (because note how the price war is only on sections of the market) to outrun CellC to the point where CellC is "burning the furniture". With the scope existing for an adverse regulatory climate for the BAUT this strategy has included foolhardy litigation and a very bad price war.

If Vodaphone is serious about its concerns it needs to tell Vodacom to stop being stupid and to look at how to produce a win win situation in the CTR scenario unfolding, frankly Vodacom's failure to be the clever kid in this little stupid game has cost Vodaphone shareholders and the sooner they wake up to this reality (Vodaphone shareholders that is) the better for them. Vodacom needs to stop fighting about the "unfairness" of CTR change and start implementing rational ways to keep the market moving forward and prevent what really is a war of contrition.

The South African mobile market is very different to the UK or European mainland. Due to Telkom mismanagement and rampant copper theft many people in South Africa, even middle and upper income people, have no choice but to use mobile data as their primary internet connection unlike Europe where the vast majority of people have the luxury of fixed line ADSL or fibre broadband. This completely changes the dynamics of mobile data usage and pricing.
