SA needs R68 billion to avoid blackouts: report

Not a problem - just recover it from those that obtained money/services/whatever illegally ... start at No 1's homestead
 
Which of course includes bonuses for execs. Blackouts = blackmail. We know this.
 
So we would not be in this mess if it was not for the ANC and public services massive corruption and theft. Sell nkandla and a few more estates then we will be there soon.

These had nothing to do with Eskom.

Then all involved in the municipality who have not done their jobs must be fired.. and competent people hired in their place.

I'm sick and tired of this BS now... the solutions are simple, nobody has the guts to implement them though.
 
This is shocking because the country had a massive wake-up call in 2008 and the government scrambled around to correct things. However, 6 years later the situation is worse and there are few signs of improvement.

Since I did my first stint as an engineer in the 80s, the core problem at municipalities has been that the collection of electricity tariffs is done by the central treasury and therefore not linked to spend on infrastructure (Durban excluded). This money is often wasted on bloated salaries and other spend, leaving the power network to slowly rot.

The solution is a policy intervention by national government, which is long overdue for other reasons, anyway.

Government is blowing all the maintenance money, and now "oops, we need R68 Billion". We are truly fcked.
 
There have been no new power stations two the grid in 20 years, yet we still see shopping malls, offices, swarms of town houses, nkandlas, etc being built. Not to mention the annual doubling of illegal connections... Where is the power coming from??

fsuck you and your bonus hungry executives. my electricity costs have more than doubled since you licked someone's arse at nersa for increases in excess of inflation for almost 10 years now. if you so shyte at your jobs you should really gtfo. do you want to double my electricity costs again? no, fsuck you.
