OC-Championships!

With the slow and painful decline in the number of overclockers in SA. The scene will eventually be non existent and with that many things will change, including and not isolated to less hardware and higher pricing.

So with that said. A Fully Structured South African Overclocking League is going to be set up where budget has nothing to do with how rankings. There would be monthly leaders (and possibly weekly as well) printed in CustomPC and an entire page or so dedicated to local rankings.

Not forgetting there Will be sponsored Hardware Prizes as well for leaders...
Further details on which benchmarks, structure, submissions and validation will be revealed in due time.

Aim is to bring back "overclocking, not benching"
Everybody can compete even AthlonXP owners right up to Core2Quad, FX5200 right up to 8800GTX and beyond owners. Stock Air to LN2 it's all welcome and everybody has a chance to lead and win prizes etc...

So the question is " Are You Game?"

That's fine.
The league rewards effort not scores or deep pockets.
Perecentage overclock will be far more important than actual MHz value.
2.5GHz is 25% overclock which is great. Athlon64 ~ 4000+ performance for 3200+ price, nothing wrong with that :D

That's like taking an FX-60 and clocking 3.25GHz from it. Nothing trivial about that! ;)

how will this work??? % clockspeed increase alone?
like, a cpu-z verified link?

ok, nevermind, see you posted while i was browsing:-)

got a 286 here i am sure can reach 24mhz..:-)

Supersunbird: Wat Biostar board is that? Its not the T-Force Ultra is it?

Ahoy,

Iiit's a Foxconn 6150K8MA-8KRS, ..I pretty sure that's the right code :)

Was cheap too! :)

I WAS going to go for the Biostar T-Force 6100 board, but jst didn't happen at the time..

Not Just CPU, but FSB/HT, RAM Speed, GFX Core Speed, GFX Memory Speed.
All these will need verification, which is easier for some components than others. But League does not exist to Police people, they will do that themselves.
Trust that you do not want to cheat, because it'll be embarrassing and can potentially bar you from entering again, which is no good.

ShockG this is a great idea, and not needing the biggest budget to do well is also a great way to get people interested. Will also be a good way to introduce people to hardware and the way they work together.

That's right Bjorn. Everybody is welcome to compete and this way people share knowledge like you say. Only or at least mostly good things can come from this.
The whole point being that overclocking can be FUN like it used to be :)
==============
supersunbird there was no formal way of measuring that.;)
But consider that we knew all the top SA overclockers who were shooting for international placings and records. Non of them are left who actively try for world records anymore. Most sold their hardware, others just don't bother anymore and having known allot of these guys they are just not interested anymore for various reasons, others just because they are bored etc...

Count me in dude :) Ye, I really dig anything with positive vibes, ..so good on ya!

Well, I've managed to overclock my crappy WinFast (should be WinSlow) nVidia GeForce 6600 card from :

Core clock frequency : 300 > 330

Memory frequency : 500 > 563

without getting any artifacts in games.

It has upped my score in 3DMark with almost 500 points!

I feel SO proud!

I'm in!!!

At the mo,

CPU : Celeron D 2.4Ghz @ 2.8Ghz
Gpu : XFX Geforce 6600 GT: clock: 500Mhz @ 564Mhz
ram: 1000Mhz @ 1130Mhz
all stock air cooling

League has officially started today.
Head on over to overclocking
Reads the rules, then start submitting scores. :D

Have fun! :D

hmmm... do you like my x1600pro will compete?
stock: core-550mhz
memory-693mhz (drr 3)
overclock max: core- 624.38mhz
memory- 828.00 mhz

and best of all it wont go over 60 degree

That's perfect. Will do just fine, but you need to oc the rest of the system as well. Then submit your score using the program. Version2 should be up shortly but V1 works as well...
