South Africa's passion for the FIFA 2010 SWC has exceeded expectation we have also shown a better spirit than Germany in 2006

To all the negative people look at this and put it in your pipe & smoke it :p

FEEL IT IT IS HERE baby :D

Horse bolted a few days back dude.

There is a fifa 2010 section i suggest you get into the groove bud. If us negative peeps can do it i am certain you can :D.

Let's hope the hype can last after we get knocked out. The 13th (unlucky 13?) game of the non losing streak seems rather daughting.

@Goldenrule I doubt it, the SWC has taken the country by storm. We have proven that we can play a good game aslong as the boys keep giving there best we REAL bafana (non fair weather supporters) will be proud of them. Long after the finals the world will remember that South Africa is so much more than a country with privileged people moaning about the way it used to be and recognaise that we are a nation of diverse people with passion & that we hosted a SWC that by ALL measures exceeded everybody's expectations.

A local PR guy is saying that the world is electrified by seeing some SA fans in the streets? This is a joke article right?

Have they actually spoken to any foreigners abroad - not the few soccer fanatics (fans) who spent a fortune to come here?

Come on.... that article is pure BS. It's just full of weasel words and hype.

Have you actually watched any of the SuperSport channels? Have you seen the reactions and comments from foreigners when SS walk around with a camera and a microphone and speak to locals and foreigners alike.

BS article? I think not.

You have a hidden agenda Peter, judging from all your posts. It's as simple as that.

Do you know what sample bias is? Who do you think will spend a fortune to come to SA for football? Well fans - fanatical fans. What do you expect them to say to the cameras -in all the excitement of seeing their country play after spending a fortune to get here? and to a TV crew -- wow! Do you think they would say - "Nice cup but all these people in those shacks must have a bad life"?

Many people on the forum say that the WC is about changing perceptions of SA. If that's so is it about the few foreigners who come here, preoccupied with anxiety over their own team winning or losing or is it about the whole big picture? And how showing that some local people are happy about seeing their own team play UNIQUE? Every time there is a WC they show reactions from around the world - I've seen mud huts in Central Africa connected to a generator and a satellite dish with the whole village cheering their team on at the WC. Did that bring investment? Is 'passion for soccer' a criterion foreigners will use to invest?

Again getting personal.

@PeterCH you have always been a sour puss. This once again proves you have some hidden agenda you, marine1 & the likes are what is wrong with South Africa.

You spew your negative attitudes & when we call you out you say we get personal. We are basking in the admiration of billions all over the world yet you sit behind you LCD screen moaning and groaning. So you don't feel it. Sit in your lounge surrounded by like minded people & bitch. We in the REAL world will keep on basking in the SWC light & at the end of a successful tournament we will do the diski dance while you will still be pointing out the little failures that are bound to happen

South Africa is not perfect & the likes of YOU are what's not perfect about our rainbow nation.

P.s if bwana feels I need a rap over the knuckles for this so be it. I am sick of these twats abusing the freedom of speech that our new regime has given them. To spew all this negative shyte.

Poverty will still be here in years to come, the world cup is only here for 1 month. Try to enjoy this month and let some things rest for now instead of acting like the world cup Grinch.

Who said I'm not enjoying it. If some people think I'm a grinch, why should I care. I speak my mind. Ta.

Ha ha. Grinch.

Nuff said.

I've seen a lot of bad things in SA - things which probably don't affect you because you're upper middle class.

You spew your negative attitudes & when we call you out you say we get personal. Yeah because criticising obvious hype is negative and wanting to improve a country one lives in is EVIL and demands personal attacks. Agenda? What's that?

South Africa is not perfect & the likes of YOU are what's not perfect about our rainbow nation.

Yeah, yeah collectivist talk. If you're not with us, you're against us - yeah.

Who said I'm not enjoying it. If some people think I'm a grinch, why should I care. I speak my mind. Ta.

Maybe because every one of your posts regarding the world cup has been negative and you have nothing good to say abut it.

LOL

Dude, you do seem against us. If this is the perception we've got en masse it's one you've created. Take some responsibility for your constant grinch attitude.

(If I wanted to be awfully unfair I would suggets that whenever Peter posts we simply respond with "grinch" and a rolling eyes icon. But I won't suggest it, however people can feel free to emply their own discretion. What right have I got to stop them ? But let it be noted, I'm not suggesting it. ;) )

Because personal attacks are not banned by the forum rules you agreed to when joining this forum. How about you take some responsibility.

I could say that you, by ignoring the bad issues in the society, are against this country. You should speak to some of your countrymen in Gugulethu or Soweto - they are enjoying the cup but given the choice they would agree with me - SC for a month or better life forever?

I'm not attacking you personally at all. I have complimented you for offering solutions on one thread. I have also expressed my belief that you have as much rights as you please to express your views about the world cup and I support that. I'm probing at what positive action can come from your negativity that's all.

Better life how ? With 280 rand over a 4 year period ? the sums are against your "better life" Peter. Let them enjoy their moment in the sun and let's hope some future investment into the country is the result of it. A question for you mister grinch. Will you be happy or sad to read in 1 years time that the world cup has brought investment into the country ? Or will you secretly feel smug to read that it didn't ? Answer honestly please.

Maybe I'm wrong but judging by your attitude you're really hoping to read an article about how the money was wasted.

@PeterCH "upper middle class" ME? :wtf: OMG no I am not. What I am is a South African that believes in the potential of its people.

I knew we could host a GREAT SWC, I also understand that to make this country GREAT (note I did not say "great again") we need to stand together. A united country can take us out of the "so called" despair some people think our country is in.

Take a look around over 300 000 people have flown in to South Africa to enjoy the spectacle that is The FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup. 3 days in & we are doing so well. Bafana played to a 1 all draw with a team ranked 17th (Bafana ranked 83). Fan parks are filled with locals & foreigners enjoying every match. Every report in the local & overseas news caster is nothing but positive (now you can go Google articles that say the opposite). Yet we have the likes of YOU playing "Grinch".

Despite negative people we finished the 9 soccer stadiums ahead of Schedule, security is tight and for the most part things are going smoothly.

FEEL IT, IT IS HERE & Africa stands proud basking in the SOCCER WORLD CUP.

Success is with in reach. Come PeterCH let's join hands & sing "oh oh oh oh" bwahahahahaha :p
