Okay, I thought you had a technical report, but I am happy if that's just your opinion.

I would like to point out to you that Rand Water does not have any asbestos pipes in its network.

You might not realise but Rand Water is a very competent water utility that takes maintenance very seriously, it is alway the municipalities who are found wanting.
I am not so sure on that but I need to go and check the exposed pipe in our street. They dug a hole around six months ago to check it and haven't closed it.

So reading through the discussion's it seems you are correct. The VF councillor did the heavy lifting and the elected DA councillor left as well.
Currently disgusted with our DA councillor at the moment but also find it strange the the non elected VF councillor is acting like our elected councillor. Looking at the local rate payer group he is doing more of the actually work you expect your councillor to do.

Its called campaigning.

People will notice it and vote VF next time round because he does more than the DA.

Nothing stops the DA councillor doing the same though.

100% agree with you, nothing does... but we operate a similar system in my area/ward. The ANC councilor is completely AWOL unless there is something in it for him. The DA councilor who isn't elected to the ward works their arse off for the area.

Nope, not actually...

It might seem insignificant to you, but its a very valid question. Why is government funding these things?

Assume every government employee uses R10 worth of tea/sugar/milk every day that is R13m a day, or R4.8bn a year.

Transformation hard at work.

Aggg I'm taking a bit of extreme example really, just to show Champy that as much as he despises Liam for asking questions about basic rands and cents, they add up very very quickly at the scale government operates.

It would actually be a ridiculously interesting exercise to see just how much money the State wastes on Coffee and Tea for all the employees every year. Across all of it, I think it will be an even larger number than my R4.8bn

Same here. Unfortunately, come 2026, the 'faithful' will just vote for the anc muppets again

Yeah they will, because in our area at least the boundaries were gerrymandered so that the biggest voting block is a township area, and I'd hazard a guess the elected ANC councilor isn't entirely awol in that part of the world.

He better not be, because if he is MK are knipping at their heels in our ward to take over.

Yes, similar to our area.

If it's on your street, it's most likely not Rand Water. They are indeed a very well run entity that is always on top of its game, they generally catch a lot of flak since most people cannot tell the difference between municipal water entities and Rand Water.

They are doing a massive maintenance project right now while municipalities are sleeping on the job.

Much larger. Imagine their bog role costs as well. Think it would be a legit eye waterer

Bog roll is a cost I would expect the government to suck up as part of providing a healthy and safe working space.

It should be a reasonable figure (which it isn't) but its not a luxury like free tea/coffee technically is.
